Columbus 1492. A single by ENOTH DESIGN TEAM (ENOTH@rambler.ru), March 2001
In 1492 Christophor Columbus set sail across the Atlantic Ocean to discover a new way to India and China. His first expedition had been preceded by several fruitless attempts to get support from different European monarchs. Finally the sovereigns of Spain, Ferdinand of Aragon and Isabella of Castille, provided him with three ships. The expedition left the port of Palos de la Frontera on the 3d of August 1492... The rest of the story is too well-known to repeat here.
The game starts when Columbus arrives at Salamanca, at that time the residence of the Spanish monarchs, in hope of getting some support from King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella. His task is to get access to the monarchs and, in case of success, to hire a crew and to obtain ships. Then he can sail to discover the New World, West Indies or whatever it is called. Everything he gets from the Spanish Crown is given on certain conditions which he must fulfill.
The characters of this game have nothing in common with real Columbus, Alonso Pinzon, Vicente Yanez (two other captains), Ferdinand, Isabella and Juan Fonseca. The same concerns the events and the map (Salamanca looks different, it’s true, not speaking of the Bahamas).
