The Conquistador
Map Design3.0
When I saw "Conquistador: Pizzarro", I was very excited. As some of you may know, I am a conquistadors fanatic. My nickname itself is "The Conquistador". I have noticed that there are three submissions and one ES campaign that are about Hernan Cortes or Hernando Cortez, but none about Pizzarro, whose accomplishment was even greater than Cortes. However, I must say I am brutally disappointed.

The playability wasn't that good at all. You land at Tumbez and already have a town! That of course, is not historically accurate. Also, there seems to be a lack of resources around your starting location, making venturing on very difficult. Or, so you think. On your way to Cuzco (which is brutally misplaced and is a pathetic little town rather than a great city), there is no resistance. And, when you capture Atahualpa at Cuzco (historically inaccurate), there is also no resistance. Then you sit around for 5 minutes before Atahualpa's "army" (which was really weak). After that, Manco takes over and you wait another 5 minutes before he rebells (which is also really easy to defeat unlike actual history recorded). Then, the scenario doesn't progress and you are stuck.

The balance was very bad, because all the armies/cities were extremely easy to defeat.

The creativity was the most lacking aspect of this scenario. The use of triggers were not innovative, and creativity was generally not put to any use.

Map design, although a 3, is the best aspect of the scenario. There were some eyecandy and it was up to par with a random map.

The story and instructions were very lacking. The story of Pizzarro was expressed very poorly, as I can know the story myself. For one, Atahualpa was not captured at Cuzco. For two, Almagro came to aid Pizzarro when Atahualpa was Pizzarro's prisoner. For three, Manco's rebellion trapped Pizzarro's two brothers at Cuzco for three months. And For four, there was a port called Lima that never showed up in the scenario. As for instructions... well, except some brief chat messages, there was only the initial text to rely on. So, pretty poor here as well. However, a combination of both got the score up to a 3.

+ Points

- Mediocre map design

- Points

- Lack of creativity
- Historically inaccurate

Final Thoughts: Well, this is not a very good representation of the great tale of Francisco Pizarro, one of the greatest conquerors in recorded history. I would recommend watching the TLC mini-series "Conquistadors" and get a better feeling of the story.
