I had a great time playing this scenario, but not a perfect one.

As soon as I started, I took note at the amount of units in play. It took a few seconds to categorize all the units, but then I was off. The basic gist is that Hernando Cortez is ready to finally defeat Tenochitlan. No more puny Aztec POV here, you get the winning perspective.

PLAYABILITY

As I said, I had a lot of fun. As you moved up to the bridge to Tenochitlan, you had to deal with the Aztec allies, and it was guerilla warfare until you reached the bridge, where the army of the Aztec Empire marched out to greet you....I was glad for each and every unit, as many units were lost due to Seige Onagers. I only noticed one bug, which was the fact that the bridges didn't have Bridge A/B bottom/top, which ment that ships could pass by very easily. Also, the final battle was lag-ridden, and it nearly stopped my computer cold. The Lag actually is a fairly signficant part, so it gets marked down one to a 3.

BALANCE

I started off with 120 units and ended with 50. Good balance here, but I'm no expert player, so for more advanced people the defeat the allies part might be too simple. A 3 is best in this case.

CREATIVITY

You had to wait half an hour for reinforcements from Cuba to arrive, which helped a LOT. Midway through you come into possesion of transports, which you can use to truck natives to your side. Prehaps the best part was the AI pleas of mercy as you ruthlessly destroyed their culture. >:) Creativity is a strong suit in this scenario, some tricks have been seen before, but you don't take off points for old tricks. :) 4.

MAP DESIGN

Eech....It's pretty much Grass 1, Jungle, road, and Dirt 3. While not aching at the eyes to look at, more eyecandy here would help the rating a lot. Map Design is only a 2 here, more eyecandy could easily get a 3.

STORY/INSTRUCTIONS

You got status updates as you moved along, as to the native's readiness, and how soon the reinforcements would arrive. While the basic plot is simple, the in-game changes to the story enhanced it a lot. This gets a well-deserved 3.

FINAL:

This is a good download for anyone out there who wants a different take on the fall of the Aztec Empire...No eye candy, Map Design, the lag, and the difficulty level are the downsides here.
