Shadowmind Episode 3: The Rise of Power
This is the continued story of Shadowmind. For those that have played the first one, this scenario shall answer any question from the last edition, which may have confused you.
||Age of Kings
||Role Playing Strategy
Here are some features of this edition
- The twisted and dark plot continues..
- Control Various people..not the same unit the whole scenario..which makes IMHO the scenario less boring..for you do not see the same unit over a long period of time.
- Serval battle scenes. Watch towns crumble when forces of evil raid and pillage some towns.
- The use of the Click/Talk method..only enhanced so the object must be in your area..to give the scenario a more realistic feel.
- At one point..control a mass amount of units as you take battle against a tough force
- Sneaking into enemy towns..while you must use..steath, for if you are caught...Game Over.
- Several AoK Dragon Appearances.
- Detailed Map
- Many triggers..around 300
Story: I should not say much here, for those who have yet to place the first two Episodes. But for those who have played the first two..here is where the story starts.
"By a darkened ruins of a village lonf forgot through the mists of time..two young warriors head through them..toward the city of Phino to disscuss the chance of Zorlon being once again a major threat But all is not well in the sutile commuties...and fate has a cruel trick on them"
I hope you enjoy my creation..I am in the midst of making a 4th Episode..so if you have any comments/Suggestions mail me at Shadows166@cs.com.

|The Downward Spiral
Wow! another great hit by Shadows of the AoK Dragon team. In this wonderful episode of the Shadowmind (Shadowmind - Episode III), Shadows unleashes another dark and diabolical sequel to his campaign. The story is beginning to surface and the action is really starting to kick in. I don't know about you, but I can't wait to see what happens in the fourth and concluding chapter of this epic saga.
To start off, the scenario's Playability was pretty good. The entire scenario was pretty fun, but there was one thing that disgusted me! At the start of the scenario, you just walked around... too much. Especially when you had to travel from the ruined city, to Phino, back to the ruined city, back to Phino. That's what lowered the playability score to a "4." Other then that, the scenario was a blast!
One thing that amazed me in this third episode was the scenario's Balance. Everything was difficult, and you could barely pull it off. But the one thing that pulled this score up from a "4" to a "5" was the "full-scale battle scene." I thought it was genius how the battle at the end of the scenario was perfectly balanced. You could barely win. I won (after playing it about 3 times) with only about 3 and a half (yes a half LOL) units left.
Shadowmind's third episode's Creativity was for sure above average. However, there were a few things that bugged me. I didn't like how at the start of the scenario you just walked around and talked to the people. Sure this added onto the story, but it was nothing new. However, the epic battle scene at the end surely pulled this score up to a "4." That whole concept was genius. It has been done before yes, but not in an RPS scenario. It was pulled off smoothly.
As I progressed in the scenario's of Shadowmind, there was one thing that stuck out to me that got better and better. This was the campaign's Map Design. The first scenario had average scenario design. The second scenario got a little better. But Episode III - Rise to Power obviously mastered the scenario design. Shadows used a lot of eye candy and the tools ES provided to create wonderful and realistic map design.
Lastly, the scenario's STORY/Instructions were nothing less then perfect. Notice how I capitalized "Story?" Well that's because I must admit that Shadowmind has the must deep and epic plot that any campaign has ever portrayed. All of the scenarios leave you hanging, and this one really leaves you wanting to find out what happens next. Many characters appear, and many characters die. Shadowmind tells the tale of a dark and realistic (by this I mean there are a few sad parts. War was sad) war.
In conclusion, if you're in for a campaign that could probably be turned into a novel, download Shadowmind Episode III - Rise to Power. If you haven't played the first two episodes yet, play them too! They're not as good as Episode III, but definitely worth the download. Play Shadowmind today! If not, you're obviously a fool ;-)
Shadowmind - Episode III is a colossal scenario in every way. I have to say that I was totally blown away by this scenario and I must admit that this game should go right up there with the classics such The Quest, Tamerlane Prince of Destruction, The Adventure of Robin Hood and other classics. Although the game received a good rating, I truly believe that this game should have been a 5.0 rating and I will clarify as to why that is.
First of all, the scenario's Playability was beyond awesome. Everything here is pure quality and I'm still amazed from what I have just gone through. I disagree with downward spiral reasoning about lowering the score about the “walking”. Of course, some of the indication could have been made clearer in the part of the game where you must re-inspect the ruins, but nonetheless this was no reason to lower the score just for that. Moreover, the movie like scenes are done so well that you will want to replay this game again and again. Therefore this game deserves a high playability value.
The balance was right on and it was simply a blast to play through this game. I believe that the "full-scale battle scene” was absolutely brilliant. I saved right before engaging the enemy, and I scouted with one of my cavalier and from there I created a battle tactic. At the end, I had still way over 189 units out of 305 under my control. The last battle was really about micromanaging and grouping units played a major role in winning. On a side note, I have played well over 1000-rated games in the zone, but this was the first time where I had the opportunity to engage in such an exciting strategic battle.
Shadowmind's third episode's Creativity was insanely good. In this game, Shadows has created and developed the main characters so well that we really care about them. Shadows was also very creative with the map, and it was very appropriate to this scenario. Of course one of two things here and there might have been done before, but never to such a high standard.
The map design was fantastic and it was amazing how much Shadow has improved since the earlier versions. The map design really has a unique flavor to it. As an illustration the city in ruin was done to perfection. It’s also a pure pleasure to wonder around the map and to find out what kind of beautiful scenery awaits the player.
Shadowmind Episode III has one of the best and most intriguing story in any scenarios/campaigns. With every step you make, you will feel the adrenaline pumping as the story present itself before you. Also, it is absolutely amazing to play each episode in this epic saga because it gets better and better.
In the end, the Shadowmind Episode III is a true masterpiece and very few games can come close to this level of quality. Now, it is time to say good bye to your friends and family because you are about to begin a very long journey into the world of shadows. Enjoy this last moment of peace because Zorlon is coming for your head.
