In this new version I changed several features. Added custom AIs widely
known for how well they play. I also put all my maps into one download
so that you don\'t have to choose which map you want to download.
Here is also a music file I used from Blizzard\'s upcoming WarCraft III
game. It\'s not a large file but it is a very good music file. Each map has
been updated with physical and trigger makeups.
Here\'s what the download should include:
==maps==
Clans of War- Mongolian Rain
Clans of War- Sarecen Dust
Clans of War- Celtic Mist
Clans of War- Viking Frost
{Clans of War}
==sounds==
Clans of Warmusic
==AI files==
Tiger RM.ai
Tiger RM.per
Saiyan_AI.ai
Saiyan_AI.per
(8 other Saiyan files)
Gothmog II.ai
Gothmog II.per
(19 other Gothmog II files)

“Clans of War- Gold Edition” is an updated version on a series of scenarios by ElfTheHunter. After downloading to play you have to zip the files into a campaign but it is well worth it.
Playability: The playability of this series of scenarios is good. Playing as different civilisations and playing on such a beautiful map with now a relatively strong set of ai files makes this a fun thing to play. The ai is ok, its not personalised especially for the map to make it very strong, but it makes for a pretty strong opponent. Taking control of a clan leader and a couple of other units makes a nice change from standard random maps.
Balance: This campaign’s balance is better than before because no against a harder set of ai files make’s for more of a challenge. The scenario is challenging and I found on average it took me an hour to complete on hard. The campaign was pretty easy to begin with because the series of ai files doesn’t attack straight away giving you a chance to hit opponent’s economy early on in the game, which makes for an interesting set of choices of your units.
Creativity: The creativity in this campaign was ok. It featured clan leaders and personal bodyguard units for your leader to begin with. Gaining other units different from ES random map scripts was good, however, this has also been included in several random map scripts from the blacksmith. In short, the creativity was done to a reasonable standard and the map had some creative features such as a castle, which can be gained for nothing.
Map Design: As before, the map design is truly superb. All of the different terrains blend together well. The map design is truly impressive. Including every single terrain without the map looking odd is a very hard thing to do and the author did it well. The author should be commended for his map’s design.
Story/Instructions: It was well worth turning the scenarios into a campaign file. As the instructions were reasonable but the bitmap was good and set everything off well before I began playing. Throughout the game the story was a limited and there were not many story changes and such in game. However, the descriptions in the opening page made up for this and combined with the bitmap make the story and instructions to a reasonable standard.
Overall: If you don’t have the time to play against humans then this is definitely worth a look. The map design is worth the download alone. |

Playability: This collection of scenarios is definitely fun to play. An interesting map and challenging AI's make this an enjoyable experience. However, I found some of the terrain hindering in some spots, but it was only a minor annoyance and not worth a second thought.
Balance: In this edition of Clans of War, the author used a different set of AI's which vastly improves the balance. The game is very challenging for any level of player.
Creativity: There wasn't anything really creative about this campaign, but it did feature some nice surprises such as a free castle. The author might think about adding some more surprises, such as rewards for defeating opponents. While the campaign idea was great, it could have had a little bit extra to make it more interesting.
Map Design: The map is extraordinary. A great variety of terrains and flawless blending make this map a pleasure to the eye. From barren deserts to lush tropical forests, this map has it all. Superb.
Story/Instructions: The story was nice, and since there was a different one for each scenario, it always made it worth reading. The instructions were basic, as you simply had to destroy your opponents. A nice bitmap was included with the campaign, which starts off the players experience nicely.
Overall: A great campaign with a superb map. The author did a great job in the gold edition of Clans of War. |
