This scenario is like a different game mode for AoK : TC, named after the rough dirt terrain, Western Holdout. You take control of an elite group of soldiers, so do your enemies, to try and control the holdout timer in the center of the map. All the players are situated equidistant from the center so as to give a fair chance of victory to the players. To control the holdout timer, eliminate the enemy units surrounding it. All dead units respawn at their respective base.
.: Objectives :.
Capture and hold the holdout timer for 7 of 21 minutes.
Prevent other teams from controlling the timer for 7 minutes.
Please submit a review.
NOTE: Reviewers plz take into consideration only the part of the map that is in use as only that part is required. |

Review for 'Western Holdout' by deathdart-- In this Single Player scenario, you must hold the 'Holdout' (monument) for as long as you can. When you finally reach the time limit, you win!
Playability-- 1 word to describe this game's gameplay: Excellent. It was a very enjoyable game, with all of the spawning and attacks to regain the Holdout. Reminds me a lot of StarCraft for some reason. I found no bugs in this scenario.
+ Plus Points +
¤ Very fun and enjoyable!
¤ No bugs
- Minus Points -
¤ None
Score-- 5
Balance-- I found the balance remarkable, but it had some bad parts to it. If you set your unit on 'Stand Ground' stance behind the Holdout, the enemys would not attack you, reguardless of the difficulty level. I will not count that a bug considering it does not really effect the game too much. But at Hardest difficulty, the game is very fun. It is more challenging too.
+ Plus Points +
¤ Two balance difficulty levels
- Minus Points -
¤ One balance problem
Score-- 4
Creativity-- This scenario had creativity I saw in Yogurt's "Final Hour". The Holdout objective is a great one (like protecting the garden in "Final Hour"), and really brings up the fun/slaugher level. ;-) Also the spawning units ability was great, that made it sort of a single player blood. If you play it, you will indeed see the creativity the author gave in this scenario.
+ Plus Points +
¤ Monument idea
¤ Spawning units
¤ All of the single player blood attributes
- Minus Points -
¤ None
Score-- 5
Map Design-- This was not a very well designed scenario, but it was designed for strategy. The trees blocking your cover, the rocks blocking your enterance, thus slowing you down... it was for strategy. ;-) And this aspect goes beyond good map design. Mostly bloods are not supposed to be greatly designed (but it would help), so I am awarding this a 4.
+ Plus Points +
¤ Strategic design, which maybe is meant for this scenario.
- Minus Points +
¤ Not much map design
Score-- 4
Story/Instructions-- There is no story for this, but there are great instructions and hints. It is very hard to get lost while playing this scenario.
+ Plus Points +
¤ Great instructions
¤ Great hints
- Minus Points -
¤ No Storyline
Score-- 3
Final Thoughts-- I recommend you download this campaign and see for yourself how fun it is. If the author has any questions/concerns about my review, feel free to e-mail me at darkaro1300@hotmail.com. Good luck designing to the author! :-)
