Long ago, according to ancient legends, monks lived in the northern territory. You play the Celts and your enemies are the Franks and the Goths. The scenario is a B&D and you need TC to play.

I edited the review because the game had some standard AI problems, which were not in the responsibility of the author. I first played half the scenario on medium difficulty and restarted on the highest level as there was not enough challenge for my taste. The first review was done playing the second, the hardest game; the edit takes both into account.

PLAYABILITY: The scenario is entertaining and there is a surprise and hidden places to find. I played the game twice and the experience was quite different. The Goths are slowed down by wolves and jaguars behind their walls, which led to a disappointing finish in one game, as the Goths were still in feudal age, had one tower, a town centre, houses, a lumber camp, farms, but no army. That game was played on hardest, while on medium the Goths built up a strong defence with castles and towers. 3
-The standard AI gives the computer player random games, none is repeatable. Plays test more and remove some of the animals.

BALANCE: The balance was overall average. The Franks give some early attacks, but you have first to defeat them, to get to the Goths, which takes some challenge off, as player two and three are also enemies. 3
-Same for the balance play test. To improve the balance a river crossing in the north would be good or have player two and three as allies.

CREATIVITY: You find a legendary place, ruins and face "strange creatures" and wolves. 3
-You are creative, something to build on for the next scenario.

MAP DESIGN: The map is done from scratch, but mostly grass 1 with wood and a river with shallows. The hidden places are quite creative. 2

STORY/INSTRUCTIONS: Your objective is to win the game by defeating all enemies. A small story, nothing under author's description, no read me, but a scout section and hints. 3

OVERALL: A good B&D for the intermediate player. If you play this version before it is edited, save game and have a look if the Goths are building up an army.
