In this game you are the Myan civilization with instructions to defeat dark tower.
PLAYABILITY: I didn’t have a lot of fun playing this scenario. I spent most of the game building my civ from the ground up, and was never attacked once during that period. I was left to build a large army, and research all techs available. When I came up against the fortress, I met with very little resistance. There were instructions to visit the blacksmith, and then a witch that lived on an island. The blacksmith was closed when I found it, but a message suggests I leave money to increase my town centers HP. I tried several ways, but it would not increase the HP .The witch invited me to fight her warrior with three of my best, so I attempted to do so, but noticed I was loosing, and when I retreated, she turns on me as well. I was suppose to win her warrior first try, then receive her help.
BALANCE: I had an overwhelming army compared to what I had to fight against. The enemies’ stronghold dropped with little resistance. The balance contributed greatly to the poor playability, as I had too much resources, population, and technology, which destroyed any balance and fun. I believe if the author were to cut back on my population and technolagies, it would have contributed to the balance.
CREATIVITY: Creativity too be seen was the visit to the witches island, and some eagle warriors that wanted to join my cause.I also found an abandoned farm that was ready for farming There was apotential for a better score in this area had the author included more instructions, that would have directed me to eventually steal a horse.
MAP DESIGN: The map was lacking in a few areas, which took away from the reality aspect. There were some eyecandy, but didn’t help to improve it much. The bulk of the map was flat with the exception of a small hilly cliff, and slight elevation on one end of the map. The water leading to the island had no fish, and the water depth went from shallow to deep in an arc giving the water a rainbow look.
STORY/ INSTRUCTION: There was no story, only instructions at the beginning of the game that were not all that clear. I checked out the triggers after the game and found that I was suppose to do certain things that would set of other triggers, but were not mentioned in the objections of the game. This communication gap made the rest of the game difficult to enjoy. The spelling and grammar should have been checked over as well, it was a bit difficult to understand.
Note: I don’t believe there was much playtesting done.
