An intense battles starts the second this game loads .You are playing against three civs ,and all civs are enemy to each other. The victory goes to the last castle standing , so you have to destroy , and protect at the same time. Both you and your enemy have a steady flow of crossbows and swordsmen ,that are quickly replaced as ons dies. The battlefield is not large ,and is soon covered with soldiers battling it out to the finish . The castle is fully functional ,so you can build trebs or petards. (This is my second review of this game, as i didn't really give it a fair one at first)
PLAYABILITY: I enjoyed the game at the start where you find yourself overwhelmed by the enemy, and decisions have to be made as to who is attacking you ,and how you will handle them. It was difficult to move about however ,which hinders any strategy you may be trying to use. A larger map could have improved this aspect ,and perhaps allowed the enemies trebs to be of greater use.
BALANCE: All civs have an equal number of players ,and an identical map layout , which would give it a pretty good balance. One thing got in the way of a perfect score ,, your trebs, and your enemies trebs. The enemy trebs tend to come out of the castle area and open , with very little protection ,so they are defeated rather quickly. I protected my trebs ,and they proved most powerful. I believe a larger battlefield would have provided much needed access ,and added to the balance , and playability.
CREATIVITY: The author proves that you don't have to make a game complicated to be considered creative. It is in the "king of the hill" style of game ,but the added features of unlimited soldiers ,gave it a nice touch.
MAP DESIGN: The map was designed well for the purpose it was to serve. It is layed out in a cross with castles at the far ends facing one another. As already mentioned , i found it too small for the amount of players that were trying to occupy it.
STORY/INSTRUCTIONS: The instructions are provided at the beginning , and they are clear.
Notes: Because of the many players, the game is a bit on the short side,, and depending on the computer , you may have two or three civs attacking you at one time. To increase the difficuly level i simply didn't build trebs or petards.Enjoy. |
