This is a playable map of Middle Earth! What else can I say? It has everything from Mordor to the Shire. Well? What do you think? |

This is an eight-civ battle, where you have four allies, lots of resources, 200 population, and are never attacked unless you approach or attack an enemy
PLAYABILITY: I did not find any real challenge playing this game, even though there was a lot of action at times. When you know that your army can be replaced with little effort, it takes away the interest level, and leaves the game a bit flat. Also, the map was heavily populated with units, which can cause the game to flash stall, especially if you have a smaller computer. Reducing the population size and resources could have increased the fun level. I believe that there was a diplomacy problem as well, one of my allies destroyed my units when they got close, then destroyed their own citizens when they joined my cause.
BALANCE: The game played on the easy side, mostly because of the no attack stance from my enemies, and the constant attacking by my allies. I didn’t have to save the game once during the game, nor lost many units. Having anemies created by triggers, and tasked to attack me and my allies would have boosted this part.
CREATIVITY: Not much found in the game, or on the map. The triggers consisted mostly of Allies joining my side. Searchin g out and finding those that would help my cause, (which i really didn't need )was about the best i could find.
MAP DESIGN: The map is flat for the most part, and has some rivers and trees. Two of my ally’s towns seemed to have had more attention given to them looked pretty good actually. The maps downfall were the chains of mountain and rock that had an obvious appearance of barricades. Cliffs, when combined with other terrain elements are much nor effective for that purpose, and do not take away from the natural look of the landscape.
STORY/ INSTRUCTION: There are no instructions or story in this game. There is a bit of dialogue in the game whenever someone joins my side, but it is basically just to let me know they are joining.(to author) This is usually one area where a high review mark can be increased easily. Add a story as the game progresses,, instead of just typing in" we will join you", add more detail, like "we hate that evil one for the suffering he has caused our people,, it would be an honor to fight by your side". Instructions can be placed in the objective / hints box, and gives the game girection.
Because there is a fair amount of action, I recommend the game for new players, and those that don’t like hard battles. |

Although a greatly mcade map I had nothing to follow - like instructions. It is very difficult to see where the story is going and I get bored straight into the game. There are no proper names - which I find very suprising for a Lord of the Rings Scenario. I do have to say the map is brilliant and the way they have illustrated Mordor is fantastic.
I think that this game is good for someone bored on a Sunday afternoon and wants something easy and playable to do. |

I submitted an update today. All it did was to make the terrain look better and change the Dark Tower and Mt. Doom. The Dark Tower now looks more like it did in the movie and Mt. Doom is a real, erupting volcano. |
