Britopolis

Version: Age of Kings
Style: Build and Destroy
Oh no! The French have invaded Britoplois and taken it over! It's up to the Brits to win back their city, and maybe their willy Celtic allies.

This isn't much of a mission, but it's probably the biggest city you'll ever see on Conquerors. And I don't just mean those piddly things like Paris in the Joan of Arce mission. See for yourself.

Playability: This map was not very fun, mainly because I didn't know what to do! I found the reserves of troops, but these men were still hammered by the yellow paladins. I guess champions vs. Paladins doesn't work. I kept getting lost in the huge city, but I guess that can be good. ;) The game lagged on my Windows Pentium 4 XP, so I think there was a problem with the amount of units. Try to fix this next time, but don't be discouraged by minor difficulties such as a lag. Lags happen to everyone. Anyway, back to playability: I also found out that Hussar kept dying when he reached a certain point... maybe a bug. Keep in mind that the condition for 'object in area' of player 1 refers to ALL UNITS of player 1. Heroes, buildings, others, and units. Yes torches and flags count!!

Balance: No. There were way too many yellow paladins for it to be a fair match for player 1. Even with the reinforcements from the gaia player, the game was still very difficult. I had the difficulty on standard. Oh yes, why are the champions boxed in? I found it tiring trying to get them out. (While catapults were killing them). Try adding a reserve of pike units for player 1 so that the player can easily defeat the paladins. Well, not EASILY, but you know what I ean! (Has a chance!)

Creativity: I like the idea of the joust ring. I've tried to recreate that, with no success. I think that's the first time I've seen that trick in a single player map before. The city blocks are very useful, but they make you get lost!!!

Map Design: Very good city, if I might add. My one tip is: use gaia others. These units, such as flowers, dead trees, and cacti make a town look realistic. I used these alot in my campaigns.

Story/Instructions: Almost NO instructions appear. That made me mad. Simply because after I saw your town, I thought you'd have a little know-how on triggers. With a few well done triggers, the map could have a very good storyline. The few words, "Ahh!! The french have invaded! stop them!!" Was all that you gave me to fight on. Expand this, and you could have an award winning map!

Overall, I was very impressed by a map by someone other than BJ or Ingo. It's nice to see that they aren't the only great eye candy designers!

To the author: Keep up the good work! Your eye candy is really good. It really reminded me of a medieval english town.

I'm sorry if the sotry is underdeveloped and the game is much to hard. I never properly finished this scenario, and must have spent half an hour on triggers. The enemy is so hard probably becuase I never fully tested. I made this scenario a long time ago on a whim. If you like its layout I have a much better scenario in Seige of Antioch. I wonder if their's anyway to edit the scenario itself?
And don't try cheating, you'll regret it.
