'Battle of Emonds field' is a defend the spot scenario which is based on a fictional battle in the series Wheel of time by Robert Jordan
The scenario is enjoyable to some extent, with the woad raiders spawning endlessly and you have to hold them off till you get reinforcements. However it is easy and the victory condition is the usual conquest, which is poorly implemented as you have to kill some units trapped inside trees to win. After that you also need to change diplomacy towards your allies and kill them too as the victory condition is set to standard.
The scenario is fairly easy, you have too many massed longbowmen and can also build up troops and castles. However it is somewhat frightening because of the seemingly endless horde of woad raiders. Onagers help a lot to get rid of them. The heroes are overpowered.
Not very creative, a basic defend the spot scenario with a spawning attack and reinforcements coming in to help. The story is not explained properly either. You aren't told why some enemies are entrapped in a clump of trees. Presumably they are holdoff units, but one of them is renamed. The victory condition is not properly implemented.
Map Design: 3-
Not as good as a random map but fits the scenario quite well with a palisade and chokepoints to thin out the enemies. Would do well with some elevations and terrain mixing.
Blank objective screen, no hints, no win/loss messages and no story. The player will not have a clue to what is going on unless he has read the original story. There is some in game text but that's about all. By the way, the scenario doesn't even follow the storyline in the book, and there are some spelling mistakes ( "Whatch hill"? )
I downloaded it because I was curious as to what a battle from the Wheel of Time would be represented as. This is not too bad as the rating suggests, just take some time to explain the basic story and improve the map and this would be a lot better.
