This battle is called Manassas Junction, or better known by many as Bull Run, named after the creek next to the field. This is one of the most important battles of the Civil War. This has ZERO lag, and does not slow down any of the gameplay.
In the game, you cannot be harmed by gunfire from the enemy, but if a cannon round hits in your direction you will be harmed a good deal. Your only unit is 1 hand cannoneer (rifleman). The only time you will be harmed is late in the battle, for balance issues. You can choose your side, Confederate or Union.
Please post responses to this, or better yet, review this! :D Thank you to all who expressed interest in this project from the start!
Hallo! This is Medieval Warfare, reviewing again.
Battle of Bull Run was one of the most bloodiest battle in the Civil War. Well, let's get on with it. Shall we?
No lag, no trigger problems, and smooth transitions. The author did a nice job with triggers. Although I felt some objectives were necessary, the player can assume what to do. An example would be "charge the enemy" or "regroup and attack". One major letdown was the renaming of the units. Some were left as they were and others were changed. A more consistent renaming would have been greatly appreciated. A beautiful aspect of this scenario was the fact that you can choose either the Confederate or Union side to play as. 3+
Hmm, this is where the author needs a little bit work. After playing it on standard, moderate and hard, I felt that it was a bit too easy. Some timely reiforcements for the opposition would challenge the player more. The player is mostly kept out of the action, with the AI fighting. You cannot direct the troops, nor do the opposition troops shoot at you. I killed 30 enemy troops by just standing next to them. That was a big problem. 2
A nice touch with the cannon explosions and realistic call back of Union forces. Good use of units to portray the army used in the Civil War. 3
Good cliffwork, realistic battlefield, and good use of elevation. Nice spacing of trees and gaia units. 4
Standard storyline, good background information, and few grammar errors. 4
Good scenario to play. But can be improved by:
-Let the player take command of the Confederate/Union side
-Add surprises or sudden bursts of infantry to make playing slightly harder
-Add level dynamics
-Make sure all of the units are renamed accordingly
-Perhaps the addition of sounds would make this scenario top-notch
