Version: The Conquerors 1.0c
This is a short cutscene intended for the spirit of the Halloween season. It should not last more then 5 minutes. Review this if you want, but it was intended more as a gift for the pleasure of all people here, rather then a great campaign.

Halloween is a cut-scene; Era Productions gift for the Halloween season, you watch Joe and Jimmy going out tricking and treating.

PLAYABILITY: When I read the title, I thought 'great idea' and that is what it is, a great idea. I learned not to analyze gifts; at least the author is realistic saying "it was intended more as a gift for the pleasure of all people here, rather then a great campaign" and I had no fun watching. 2

BALANCE: This category relates to the skill of the player and is somehow subjective, as the reviewer rates, if the scenario was too hard/easy to complete for him or if the scenario is well balanced. The scenarios goal is to show a cut-scene, where you do not have control of a unit and it is in the intention of the author that there will be no fighting. From the review tutorial: “One important item to note about scoring the balance category for scenarios where no fighting takes place, such as cut-scene scenarios, some puzzle scenarios and some rpg style scenarios, is that just because the player cannot die in such scenarios, that doesn't mean the scenario isn't balanced. You also need to take the author's original intent into account, giving the author some benefit of the doubt. If the author never intended the player to face a struggle to survive, then there's no reason to knock down the balance score if there isn't any fighting. So keep in mind that you do need to take the intent and goals of the scenario into account when scoring the balance category, especially for those scenarios where fighting is not included.” 5

CREATIVITY: Probably the first scenario based on the Halloween theme at the blacksmith. Two children disguised as Robin Hood and Dumbo the elephant, walking on four 'legs'. 3

MAP DESIGN: The small map is above average with randomly placed trees. 4

STORY/INSTRUCTIONS: A cut-scene does not need objectives and hints, reason enough to excel in other areas. "In this scene we see two young lads preparing to go trick or treating. A rather fun night turns horribly wrong when they come upon a graveyard" is not a story, more a description, especially when the 'fun night' erases by a change view trigger. Well there was an objective, "Watch and see what happens". 2+

SUGGESTIONS: Try a story, who are Joe and Jimmy and their parents? Let them do some 'trick or treating' on the way. Create a spooky atmosphere with sounds, music and map design. Tell us about the history of Halloween, use a themed bmp and maybe 2 children in the elephant costume. ;)

IN CLOSING: Trick or treat, smell my feet
Give me something good to eat!
