Willet Point

Author File Description
Byzantine Warrior
File Details
Version: The Conquerors
Style: Mix
Francis Willet put his foot upon the small hill. He looked out at a sea of green, swaying grass that met up with a thick forest. To the left he saw a mountain so high that it's snow covered top vanished into the clouds above. Deer were running in the forest, and berries and wild flowers grew everywhere creating a nice blend with the waving fields and hills. But the thing that caught his attention the most was... the river. It went for miles filled with fish and white rapids. It was a gorgeous sight indeed.
"Yes," he thought aloud, "this will be my home, my palace, the palace I share with nature. And people will come to my palace, and they will build in it. But I will ask my partner first, to see if she wants them to build here. Please tell me friend, shall they come, take in the joy I take?"
A breeze blew in from the east and made his coat tails flap in the new wind. And with that, he struck down a flag in the ground and declared it, Willet Point. He built a monastery on the hill and a town by the river, named the Orbsah River, after his father.
But now, things have changed... dearly. An empire called the Le' Parymon, a French follower, has decided to take this land. But Francis refused, saying that they may build, but not take all. One inhabitant of a small fishing village found his body in the river, pelted with arrows. Outraged, the towns built up an army to fight off the threat.
And so it was, a small army filled with anger and revenge in their hearts, went off to battle an army of hell.

Overall Objective: Bring a monk to the sacred monastery.

Please don't use 'marco' 'polo' (or any other cheat for that matter) for 2 reasons.

1) It ruins the scenario
2) I used several object visible triggers which go off if you see them.

Tiberium This is a very nice scenario with plenty of triggers and beautiful terrain. The objectives are clear, "to the point" and they develop an interesting plot. The game is very well balanced. Great scenario!

If you're in for some FF, RPS, and B&D action, "Willet Point" is the scenario for you, blending various kinds of gameplay to create a very fun game, despite some disadvantages.

The Introductory story was above average, providing background info and an overall objective. I missed some conflict or some drama, but it was better than good, hence the 4. BTW, I don't know whether it's a problem with the scenario or with my computer, but the bitmap showed up like wavy grey lines. It didn't affect the score, however.

Playability was okay, mixing different styles of gameplay, and normally it would recieve a 4, but due to tedious parts like the seige of Nubrian Buffer, it recieved a 3.

...and the same applies to Balance, which, too, was about to recieve a 4, if it wasn't for some bugs throughout the scenario. As a good point, however, I felt the balance was carefully tested and never thought anything was too hard or too easy.

Creativity was okay, but I'm afraid that's all that can be said without revealing too much about the scenario.

The Map Design didn't encompass the whole of the map. As a matter of fact, I felt a little too much wasn't used at all. The parts that were used, however, were more than adequately decorated and pleasing for the eye.

If you're in for a mix of the best types of gameplay, and don't mind the fact that the plot isn't all too complicated, Willet Point will grant you an hour of fun in your life.
