Description:
Play against the computers or your friends, and battle for world conquest in this to-scale and highly detailed geographical map of the ENTIRE World!
Combining the general concept of map control from the board game RISK with AoE2 gameplay, resource control, and different game modes to offer tons of varieties and strategies, you'll have hours of fun with your friends over LAN or IP games!
Maps Description:
STANDARD MAP - start you off randomly on anyone of the continents with a town center, 3 villagers, and 1 scout.
NOMAD - you start with 3 villagers and a transport ship randomly in either North or South pole, and you are to sail to anywhere in the world to start your new civilization!
Map size: Giant
Number of players: 1-8 players (single or multiplayers)
Single and Multiplayer Notes (Updated: July, 29, 06)
In Single Player mode, you CANNOT change the team numbers because of a bug with the game. If you want to have computer allies, you must play the "COMPUTER ALLY" version of the map.
In Multiplayer mode, as with any multiplayer scenarios, you should NOT change the player's starting color, or the game will not function correctly.

WoW guys! Why wasnt this map rated yet?! We were surely too confused, and too busy playing that we forgot to rate this piece of artwork!
Espcially with fog on, its hard to orientate, but this makes it so special, the map gives an ^known^ feeling, even if you never plasyed it before!
Balance: 5
It's up to the player where to settle, if nomads is enabled, which gives equal starting positions to all players. You also can make an race of it to get the best land as first! Also, you can set up an strategy, by going on land at a strategetical point of the map.
Creativity: 5
Yea... Creativity... We know for centuries how our worlds looks like... But never did we accomplish to put in a cool Age of Empires map like this! :D
Map Design: 5
Perfect, it should have taken big patience and loads of redoo's, since this map isn't created in 1 breath
Story/Instructions: 5
A deep explanation for the map is given, good instructions about how to play, even tactics and play ideas have been added to get the best out of this map.
Additional Comments:
Well you got an A+ (5.0!)
Its nice to see, that you also can train on this map because it has given singleplayer support ;)[Edited on 08/21/08 @ 07:15 AM]

This is the best World map I have seen! Me and my brother were doing a 2v6 (Me and Him v 6 computers) on the Standard Map. It lasted over three days! And all of it was pure fun and excitement. With this map the fun never stops. The Nomad version is even better because you get to choose were to settle.
Balance: 5
Each continent has an equal amount of resources. It is easy to get to everywhere. If you are Nomad version you can make a race to see who can get to the best land first (I personally think Africa is the best).
Creativity: 5
This is the first attempt to put a world map into Age of Empires (I think). This makes it creative in itself but also there are Wild Horses and Hawks triggered to move around the map. The African watering hole is very cool.
Map Design: 5
The map is Geographically accurate. There is a extraordinary use of Terrain mixing. There is desert in Africa and Ice in Antarctica. Trees have been individually placed and there is a great use of GAIA objects.
Story/Instructions: 5
There is a deep explanation for the map, good instructions about how to play and Trigger saying things at some points. Tactics and Strategy ideas are even placed to help you.
A great Map. Well Done

As far as practical gameplay goes, the majority follows the general Random Map formula, with a few clever extras. Very fun to play, although things begin to feel very claustrophobic with 7 or 8 players considering the large amount of ininhabitable ocean (but hey, you didn't design the planet).
Balance: 4
Again, as far as balance goes we have basically the Random Map setup, and resources are distributed very well, so altogether things are quite balanced, with one exception: The lucky bloke who starts out in Australia will likely be left alone for quite a while, as everybody seems to forget to look there. ;)
Creativity: 5
Altogether, I was very impressed with the level of creativity in this scenario... the iceberg effect on ships was very clever, by the way - I lost an entire fleet trying to invade the Aussies simply because I wasn't watching!
Map Design: 5
What's there to say? AWESOME.
Story/Instructions: 3
Not real clear on some of the instructions... clearly everything was thought of, but, as previously stated, I wasn't aware of the iceberg issue (lol) and I must have blown up the Dome of the Rock 5 times trying to settle there before I figured out it wasn't going anywhere, but this didn't affect the fact that this scenario was extremely fun to play, and definitely one I will be playing again.
Very good work, one of the best Multiplayers I've played.

WORLD CONQUEST - by Alexanderthegreat3 is pretty much exactly what it sounds like, world conquest where players begin on one of the 8 continents of the world (North America, Canada, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, Siberia, and Australia) on a scaled and geographically accurate map, and must win by means of Conquest. That's right, no Wonder or Relic victories over here (mainly because there are no relics on this map)
NOTE: Im sorry if I started rambling in this review but I was really amazed by how epic it is and wanted to go into DETAIL.
Playability: 5
Very Extremely Fun. Due to the fact that players will never start on the same continent twice in a row, and the varying types of World Conquest that can be played, One will not get bored as easily with this Scenario. In fact, I myself still play the Standard map almost every day! :D
Balance: 4
I felt that World Conquest was very well balanced. Since no player will spawn on the same continent each time, nobody will get their favorite spot every game meaning that Strategy is the only true way to win. There is just one unfortunate glitch which does sort of affect this scenario when playing against the computer: Unless using a special AI that will follow commands or editing the scenario to start with a dock, the Computer will almost never build a dock meaning that the match could potentially go on forever as they cannot walk across the ocean. If there's a way to solve this problem or im just not doing something right, please feel free to let me know so I can revise my score :)
Creativity: 5
Im sure many have thought to make a World Map for AoE2 and some have even attempted it in the past, but this one really shines with clever additions like the indestructible Gaia buildings, animals that move cleverly and the icebergs which when run into will sink your ships (if your wondering, YES I've lost fleets of troops sending men to/from Australia).
Map Design: 5
Im not a Geography junkie who could tell you every single error (if any) you've made with this scenario, but I can say that it is VERY BEAUTIFUL and evidently made to scale. Its easy to see that this scenario was made with extreme delicacy and painstaking detail. There's a good amount of Terrain Mixing and eye candy so as to not look like an ES map, but detailed very nicely so as to not look bland either. The only thing that I somewhat didn't like about this map, and maybe someone else already said this but it seems to me you could have made the continents just a bit bigger or maybe have added something to fill that space considering the amount of empty water (yes, I know that that's how our world really is but it just irks me a little bit)
Story/Instructions: 5
For players new to this scenario, there's clear detailed instructions as to how to play and there's even a Strategy Guide of sorts giving you details about how best to play the starting position you land on. As for the story? there is none, YOU have to decide the history of this scenario and of your people by means of CONQUEST!
Additional Comments:
Overall an Amazing and Perfect Scenario HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to ANY and ALL. Good Work Alexander, this is one of the best scenarios in the blacksmith.
Just a quick side note: My Favorite Civ for this Scenario is the Teutons because of the LOS boost for the Castle and TC which comes in handy when you land on ocean threatened continents such as Africa or Australia. |
