This campaign is split in two because of the blacksmiths 2 mb limit, I would reccomend that you download both chapters before playing the campaign, some sounds and the bmp for chapter 1 is located in chapter 2 because of the 2 mb limit.
The two chapters are fully playable separate though, but the best experience will come from downloading both chapters together.
Ogier the Dane chapter 1
This is the revised story of the danish vikingson who became a paladin
and served Charlemagne throughout his reign.
Ogier the dane was the son of the danish king Götric, Ogier was given to Charlemagne as assurance of danish promises to keep the peace, when the king broke the promise Charlemagne was obliged to have the young man hanged, but had a change of heart and entrusted him to lord Roland.
Ogier became a frankish knight and took part in all of Charlemagnes major campaigns to christien the european barbarians, and enlarge the empire.
The sources on which I built this campaign are :
The song about roland
Cronicles by ansgar and saxo
More focus has been put on playability than historical correctness,
for example his whole lovelife has been left out as it would have
made the campaign double in size.
Although there were 6 parts to this campaign most of them were short cut-scenes.I played the campaign on hard and breezed through it easily. It did however hold enough interest for me to finish it.
This was a role playing campaign with some build and destroy aspects. The use of too many cut-scenes hurt the balance of play.
There was alot of creativity with the use of cut-scenes,triggers and map design, but i felt that the cut-scenes needed more content and to be used less.
There were alot of different maps, with good use of elevation, terrain and plenty of eye candy.
This campaign had a good story, with plenty of good hints and clear easy to follow instructions.
In closing i would recommend downloading both parts of this campaign because it does have a good story and some good game play.Additionally one can also check out the cut scenes.
