This is my first attempt at a review, but I think this is a great campaign to start my reviewing career on.
Struggle of Powers is a great campaign with a strong story, and great fun factor.
The -Playability- of this campaign was average. There were a few times where you will find yourself wandering around with nothing happening. Overall, though, there are some fun battles in this war-based campaign and that makes the playability of this campaign decent.
This campaign's -Balance- was above average. In the first scenario you find yourself in control of one character, and many times after battles you will have to go back and forth between healing points before going back into battle. Other than that, the balance was fine. Not too hard, not too easy; just right.
The -Creativity- was great. There were a few trigger tricks used in this campaign that I have never seen before, and I have also never seen battles that are set up so realistically and professionally. The author did a great job in this area.
-Map Design- was another high point of this campaign. A great combination of hills, flowers, mountains, trees and Gaia units here. This campaign's map design reminded me of Ingo Van Thiel's The King's Best Men. And I'd have to say that this campaign's maps were on par with, or even better than that of the great Ingo himself.
This campaign's -Story/Instructions- were excellent. The story draws you in and you can almost picture in your mind what is really happening. The intro bitmaps for this campaign were also pretty decent. There were many screenshots from the campaign as well as battle images which helped bring more life to the story.
Overall, this campaign was great. It was fun to play, although there were a few bugs, it was still enjoyable. If you enjoy great battle scenarios that are cleverly mixed with RPG elements and a great storyline, then Struggle of Powers is the campaign you want.
This is a very enjoyable campaign, great cutscenes, map design, and specially the story.
I found a bug on the first scenario, when I try to board the boat in the city to the north, my game crashed.
Also I would have liked to know a bit about the other characters, and my overall objective, like in the first scenario you are not really told what to do except to search for quests.
But aside from a few small problems I think everyone should try this one out.
I couldn't have said it better myself, great campaign with a superb storyline. Everything was cool and nicely thought of. Talon's way of making maps is very nice, gives you a feeling of how it is ment to be. Great forests and swamps, but the villages I like the most.
I can't imagine how much time you've spent on making this campaign. All the renaming of caracters, not only that, most of the people have something to say. The time you have spent on this campaign was wurth it.
(to bad about the bug, where you step in the boat and it has an error)
Sounds great! I'll download to now!
This needs a sequal!
