As you can see in his most recent scenario, DiabloNight is a very skilled designer, with a great sense of humor. There are few other multiplayer scenarios that can match the quality of the scenarios, and it’s hard not to laugh at some of the messages that he has put in. This scenario is completely compatible with many multiplayer settings, like free for all, diplomacy style, and teams, and I really strongly urge that everyone should at least give this scenario a try.
Playability: There are few scenarios that can match up to the entertainment and quality that Alpha Blood possesses. DiabloNight has obviously spent quite a lot of time on this scenario, and most players have greatly enjoyed playing this scenario. I have not discovered a single bug in this final version as well, and lag was usually not a problem. However, this scenario is a variant of Germz Blood, and is not perfect. A player new at this game whom has not achieved 100 kills in 10 minutes will have his gate destroyed, and those new players need the gate the most. Also, using horses for the deactivation system is not necessarily a good idea, and kings would be better, due to their better pathfinding. While experienced players may micromanage the horses to their deactivation target, many a player has complained in great frustration of the poor pathfinding of horses, as on the way to the unit they wish to deactivate, they may stumble across the flags of another unit, leading them to deactivate that particular unit. Still, the problems are only very minor problems, and after playing this scenario even once, you’ll be sure to be sharing this great scenario with others.
Balance: This scenario was perfectly built out, and no player had even a very slight advantage over another player. However, just like any other blood game, players who have been fed with weak enemy units often come out to the top of the scores quickly, and vanquish all of his opponents very easily.
Creativity: While it is built up on the standard blood map style, this map still showed quite a bit of DiabloNight’s creativity. The deactivation system has never been witnessed before in any other scenario, and none other than DiabloNight has ever created flaming walls in a scenario.
Map Design: This map did lack a bit of eye candy, but as the designer already knows, eye candy can contribute to considerable lag, and therefore, he didn’t place all that much eye candy in the map. There were no “ugly” spots in the map, and the map just looks as beautiful as any other popular scenario.
Story/Instructions: The instructions were perfectly accurate for a newbie player, and explained everything basic to the scenario. DiabloNight has also showed his humor by using a different resignation message, and defeat message for every player, and many of those messages were hilarious. I just wished that DiabloNight would have maintained the “14 units in spawning island” trigger from his Capture Blood, which was very hilarious.
If you are a fan of multiplayer scenarios, and are looking for a new and unique scenario, I strongly urge you to download this scenario. There are few, if any, scenarios that can match the glory of what DiabloNight produces, and his humor is unfailing. This is an especially welcoming scenario is you are tired of the standard ,blood maps player on zone.
