CHESS, AOK STYLE :) This is a real chess-board with AOC units. You can play a real game of chess on this map, turns and all. A simple turn marker system prevents you from moving your units when it's not your turn. "Captured" units appear as "ghosts" in your cemetary (to help keep track of which units you've lost to and captured from your opponent). Original board units have been renamed, and both players have a cache of extra units to be used for pawn-exchanges, to redo a move, or if a piece is killed accidentally.

As of this submission, there is only one outstanding issue, and there is a simple workaround. As far as I know, there is no way, either through triggers or AI, to set the default stance of HUMAN-controlled units to "No Attack Stance." So both players must do this manually when the game begins for all their units, including extra, or "cached" units.

Both players need to download the scenario and save the AI files (Immobile and .per) to their ...\AI folder.

Also recommended to make all players (computer controlled as well) the same race. P1 and P3 should be the same color (blue, if you can't change P3's color). Likewise for P2 and P4 (red if you can't change P4's color). Human players should always assume P1 and P2 positions. P3 and P4 should always be computer controlled.

That's pretty much it. Hope you enjoy! Feel free to leave feedback or suggestions on how to resolve the "no attack stance" issue. I'll let you know if it's something I tried already. Also, don't hesitate to leave reviews if you want... but only good ones :) (j/k).

In the originally submitted aokchess.scx, there was an extra "test" unit near the turn marker. I have since, updated the map and resubmitted it.

If you happen to be one of the few people who downloaded the map already, you can either update by re-downloading, or. when you start a game, just make sure whoever is playing as P1 kills the archer near P1's side of the turn marker.

thanks, and enjoy,
The Quacker You should be able to fix that issue by using the "freeze unit" effect. If this doesn't work, start the pieces with gaia, use freeze, then change ownership.
The Quacker no problemo. It should work that way...but if not, then more work! w00t!

Hope all goes well,

thanks quacker... I haven't tried that yet. I'll have to change ownership of everything on the playing board (P1 or P2) to Gaia, then freeze and change ownership back respectively. That's not quite the same as starting them off as Gaia then changing ownership, but it might work. Otherwise, I'd end up having to redo practically the entire scenario... I'll post here to let you know if it worked
