It is a multiplayer map that I thought to make after my visit to the said Island.
(Note all the wild horses on the Island!)
If your into camping I highly recommend going there.
I used a real map of the island I picked up on my trip to make this one, Enjoy!
P.S. No the blocks of land everyone starts on is not really there by the Island I just wanted it to be a race to get there when everyone starts playing. Sadly it can\'t really be played as a single player scenario because the computer players are to dumb to build a navy and sail to the island too. Maybe I\'ll make a single player version later.
This is a 1-8 player map but it might be a little choppy with 8 players though. I made sure there wasn't anything on the island that would slow the game up aside from the horses, can't take those out or it wouldn't be Assateague.

'Assateague Island' is an 8 player multiplayer scenario based on the real life location off the coast of the USA, which is renowned for its recreational beaches and wild horses.
PLAYABILITY: 'Assateague Island MP' could potentially be a nice multiplayer experience that would fit well with Ensemble Studios' custom maps, however there are a number of notable issues that detract from the overall enjoyment that this map provides. The main issue is that there is nothing to draw the player over to the centring island; no resources, relics or anything that might help the player to gain an upper hand over his opponents. Giving the player minimal resources while providing the majority of resources on the island would have given this map a 'Gold Rush' type strategic experience, but with a focus on the ocean. 2
BALANCE: Each player begins on a small parcel of land with large resources in stone and food, but an infinite supply in gold and wood. There are no resources across the map aside from isolated deer and scattered clumps of forest on the main island. Oddly enough, players 1 to 4 receive less stone but an infinite amount of wood, while players 5 to 8 receive more stone and only half the amount of wood than the other players. Players 1 to 4 also have fixed fortified walls, while the opposition receives only palisade walls but have bombard towers. 3-
CREATIVITY: It's a standard random map experience, but with a custom map. The template for the Assateague Island is very good, although the interior map design does lack in quality. 2
MAP DESIGN: The map design borders blank to random map quality, but aside from the gold and stone provided in each players base, there are no resources or fish supplied across the map. The best part of the map is easily the template design for the Assateague Island, which resembles the real life destination quite well. The wild horses were also a nice touch here. 2+
STORY/INSTRUCTIONS: There is nothing of note here. 1
CONCLUSION: 'Assateague Island MP' is potentially a nice multiplayer custom map experience, however it is in need of an overhaul in map design and balancing to make it fair and enjoyable.
In a sentence - This provides a good template for the Assateague Island.
In closing - Worth the download if you want a real life location template to work on.
