Nimbus Ai (The second edition of the JHL ai)
A number of improvements have been made over the last edition.
Some improvements Are:
The imperial time has decreased quite a bit
far better resource management in late game
The ability to fight nearly unending even when all the gold has run outs
adjusted targeting to help tactical ai
adjusted tactical ai freqence to help tactical ai
better attack and defense management
to signal to attack you only need to taunt 9 to it
many other small updates and all around better macromanagement
So Nimbus can fight pretty good can beat 3 default ai, but still stopable by a good rush and still plaged buy the same tactical ai problems that hurt any ai. Again though it is a pretty good fight.
This is an outstanding AI. Certainly, this is one of the best - if not THE best - non-cheating land AI that I have seen so far.
Small (3-player) Arabian random map, 75 pop, hard difficulty, Standard resources, Dark Age start, conquest
Nimbus ai (Mongols) vs Standard AI (Mongols)
Result: Nimbus ai wins at 1:17:25
Feudal Age: 14:49, Castle Age: 23:09, Imperial Age: 32:10
151 kills vs 81 kills
Nimbus ai (Saracens) vs Slak Bot (Saracens)
Result: Slak Bot wins at 3:20:33
Feudal Age: 15:59, Castle Age: 22:54, Imperial Age: 32:21
625 kills vs 543 kills
Nimbus ai (Teutons) vs BingAI v2.3 (Teutons)
Result: unfinished at 4:46:58, but Nimbus ai had the upper hand
Feudal Age: 14:43, Castle Age: 21:37, Imperial Age: 30:36
641 kills vs 654 kills
Nimbus ai (Chinese) vs Blackwind Religion (Chinese)
Result: Nimbus ai wins at 2:03:25
Feudal Age: 14:51, Castle Age: 22:21, Imperial Age: 30:20
401 kills vs 210 kills
(This is the first non-cheating AI that I have seen beat Blackwind Religion. Chu Ko Nus with supporting pikeman were more than a match for hordes of monks.)
I only saw one problem with this AI. Since it only uses the scout cavalry to explore at the start of the game, on rare occasions it will not find the nearby berries, with the net result being a disasterous Feudal Age time of greater than 20 minutes. The scout cavalry usually does find the berries, so this problem is very rare.

I imagine this is about as challenging as an AI can get
before the patch/x-pac, and without any resource cheating.
Certainly more agressive than slackbot.

This is a really nice ai. The ai often circles relics with ground units to protect till monk is available. I noticed though that late into the game this tactic is still in place. Was able to take advantage, ambush, and easily destroy units (beserkers in this case) moving to surround ungarrisoned relics from a destroyed monestary. Don't know if this is fixable or even should be considered.
I use this ai exclusively in any scenario or camp design. I had a great battle against Persian Nimbus AI. 2 words "Gray Horde". thanks

nimbus rocks! considering it's a non cheating ai.
i lost to it three times in a row when it swarmed in with pikemen backed with hoards of elbows.
