This is a slightly updated version of AI VNS_Halen_ (ID 245), result in some bugs fixed and some slight changes.

NOTE: Please read the ReadMe file for the correct settings, especially the preferred civils. VNS_Halen_ can play 2 civs: Huns and Vikings. Other civs will result in an early resignation. |

Actually, VNS_Halen was first designed for human-players to improve their skills on Arabia map. Due to my lack of experience, the AI was not much flexible, i.e it does not play many settings. (and I thought the player would choose 1 or 2 "best" civilization(s) for VNS_Halen_ then). No wonder this VNS_Halen_ resign early if its civil is not Huns or Viking.
By the time, I improved VNS_Halen_ as other scripters suggested, though it was not "officially" released here (AOKHG) . Some "unofficial" versions are released at AIScripters and VNS website, you may find "beta", "delta", "gamma" or "omega" version (or whatever) around there.
I will release another offcial version here (AOKHG), but not now. The AI still needs improvements ^_^ .
However, if you want to find a VNS_Halen_ which can play all civils, the version recommended at the moment is "VNS_Halen_ delta":

(NOTE: This version can play different strategies, depends on civils. It's better than former versions when against other AIs , but not much challenging for skilled players, since the "resource cheats" was cut)
Although I am stopping AI-Scripting (for graduated-thesis) , I will accepts the feedbacks and save them for later improvements. Even negative comments are appreciated, thanks.

This is a really silly AI.
It never works on any settings.
It is always defeated even by default comp AI.
Try improving it with more civ support. |

Hey tushar, did you ever READ anything related to this AI before using it ? Well, I guess I have to say again and again:

ABOUT GAME SETTING
Game: Random Map (can play Post-Imp DeathMatch, but best in RM)
Location: Arabia, Mongolia... (all Land location)
Size: fits the number of Players
Difficulty: Moderate or more difficult (should be Hard)
Resource: Standard = Low
Population: 125+ (200 recommended)
RevealMap: Normal better than Explored
Speed: No Problem
Victory: NP (VNS_Halen_ won’t build a wonder (^_^) )
Lock Team: either ON or OFF (checked recommended)
Civilization: Vikings / Huns
(if you play Post-Imperial DM, choose Goths / Huns for him)

Of course this AI is not supporting many settings, but it supports 2 most popular settings : Arabia RM and Arabia PIDM . And I don't think it lose to the default computer unless you selected non-supported settings.
On which ground you said this AI was silly ? I've tested this AI against your AI (Macrocosm II) and your AI didn't survive 30 mins (4 games in a row), though that was Macrocosm's favourite setting. I've posted some details in my comment about your AI, check it.
Hmm, Tushar , I hope you don't take my comment as an offense, now that your comments about other AIs are "your AI is full of bugs" and "my AI beat this AI easily" .

@tushar: i have to assume that reading is not your strength. Just read the post above, on page2. The author already suggested to download the version at aiscripters if you want to have a script which supports all civs.
And btw. play it on the right settings and it will easily beat your AI. That for sure ...
Sorry, but i find your comment - besides quite ingnorant - very despising to the scripter.

VNS Halen Alpha is a TOP Flusher from a TOP Scripter
VNS_None (author of this AI) made one of the very best Flushes with this AI.
OK, its maybe not the most actual Version, but other scripts are also a bit outdated here ;)
More actual Version of VNS_NONES scripts are available at aiscripters.com in various Tournament Packs.
i really love to preapre my AI versus VNS-NONE scripts, and i have to say that i like them very much - especially because they are very strong and adapt to strategies well -
it one of the scripts that i WOULD include in my (1v1 Arabia) training List FOR SURE (if it is not yet included)
surely its one of the best flushing AI's out there, due to its flushing strategy it may not perform so good on closed (with walls) maps or in Team games, but surey it can handle most LandMaps on 1v1 (beside the mentioned settings would be the first i would try anyway) - and can play on Land or mixed Maps
of ocurse it is optimized for 1v1 arabia - and VNS-NONE did a very good job with it - |

Okay quoc383011, my bad, just got traumatized by having to choose a specific civ for your AI because I always set everyone to random. Now I probably have to test your version that plays all civs, sounds quite good already. Lets see VNS_Halen rushing me badly after 15 minites :-). By the way, what happened to the VNS website?
*edit* Defeated VNS_Halen_delta in a looooooooong, _very_ difficult match. I had a hell of a time surviving his rush. However, it's good to know that my strategy of walling up does even work against VNS_Halen on open land maps. :-)[Edited on 10/15/06 @ 02:44 AM]

Nvm, I am very glad you have some good games with my scripts. I'm sorry I couldn't reply earlier since my time for AI scripts are approximately zero at the moment.
FYI, the latest version of VNS_Halen so far is "omega", and there will not be another script from mine in next 6 months.
well, the VNS website has change the domain to www.vns-clan.org
(the old domain is .com and has been transfered)

I will try this AI playing Viking/Hun and sets the the tech to "Full Tech". And see the next action :)
