To clarify what the author says in the description page, this AI does work on hard and below but works best on hardest, where it cheats.
On hard, this is a fast and aggressive rush AI that's challenging except that it mostly builds spearmen. On hardest, the same, except it cheats for resources and thus has the ability to feudal at insanely early times (I'm talking about the 8 or 9 minute mark). I have no problem with it cheating, especially since it performs OK even without the cheats.
So far so good. Unfortunately, castle and imperial are where this otherwise good AI begins to falter. I tested it on a variety of maps, but just doesn't play well military-wise. It builds armies almost solely from pikemen and EWs, is late upgrading and getting blacksmith upgrades, and doesn't build many villagers, causing it to fall behind economically. It doesn't pick up relics at all. Designing a challenging late-game AI is at least as difficult as an early game one, because there are so many more factors to take into account. I would rather have an AI that's competitive throughout all ages rather than solely a rush AI. It doesn't build trade carts, so understandably this isn't a team game AI.
Overall, a pretty good general gaming AI with a lot of rough edges and situational bugs. I recommend it, with a reservation. It could definitely be improved upon (but you could say the same for all AIs), but if an update was released improving late game performance and supporting more civs this would be quite a worthwhile AI. At this stage, the AI seems incomplete. |

Goodbye AI is a fast AI which rushes to the Feudal Age at early times, around 8 minutes. It is quite tactical. It spends most of its Dark Age period gathering a lot of resources, a lot more than the Standard AI. However in Castle and Imperial Age, this AI goes downhill. It doesn’t really attack very much and mainly builds pikemen. It upgrades late and not many villagers are built by it. It also doesn’t build trade carts and trade cogs. This shows that the AI isn’t designed for team games.
Additional Comments:
Overall Goodbye Ai is a good Ai for general gaming but needs a lot of improvements for me to use it again.
