In the time after the fall of the Roman Empire, the Goths found themselves in well wooded lands, where they took advantage of what was around them, and advantage of the remains of the outskirts of the Roman Empire.
Special Features:
-----------------
* Trees placed as objects, not terrain, turning the map into one large, navigable forest. Makes walling spotty, and makes mass troup movements more difficult.
* Plenty of gaia rocks, but very little stone, and at distances that must be scouted for.
* Remains of the Roman empire, including roman ruin eye candy, small wall segments that can be converted (gaia), and one deserted (gaia) keep near every player starting point. Suggest you find that quickly!
* Nonsa River: a large river that will always be slightly offset towards one side of the map or the other.
* Seasons. There are four feels, with a 30% chance of Winter, Fall or Spring, and 10% chance of summer. Each has a different set of terrain and trees, and different feels to the river, which will even be fully frozen in the winter.
Play Tips:
---------
* The computer AI doesn't respond well to this, and since the computer can't convert Gaia objects, it is at a disadvantage anyway.
* Find the keep!
* This is designed for Gothic tribes, which cannot wall off. Ever player will have a stone mine large enough for about two castles, but it will not be close to the city, so scout out.
* Take advantage of small walls you might find. Often you can worm an important building between a wall chunk and some trees.
This is my first random map, so I hope that it works well. Enjoy and happy gaming.
Great map! We had a lot of fun in a DM LAN party yesterday with this one. Got the frozen river and it was here were the most desperate fighting imaginable took place! The scattered trees form a true "Green Hell" where making efficient maneuvers with your army is quite difficult and challenging. Siege Onagers are a must, even more than in BF. I earnestly reccomend this map.
