The MFO@Mapster team announces the release of another random map script, MFO@RandomMongolia. While our heroes at Ensemble Studios created some great and interesting scripts, including the base idea for this script, Mongolia, playing the same map can become very repetitive. Our new script tries to overcome this problem by introducing a set of 20 randomly selected terrain patterns for the basic Mongolia script, which offers no random terrain patterns. The basic map has not been changed. RandomMongolia retains the same percentage of forested land, and gameplay is identical. However, the map may randomly have jungle, pine forest, bamboo or another type of forest. For each of the 20 terrain patterns, there are preselected base terrains, primary and secondary forests, various terrain patches and appropriate animals.
Can you picture a Mongolia map with jungle as forest and turkeys & jaguars roaming the map? Or with palm trees and desert terrain? How about Mongolia with stands of bamboo and forest? How about with a frozen look? Or a green pine forested Mongolia? Look at the maps this script generates for these examples and more!
So how does this script change gameplay? Not at all. The pattern of land and forest and cliffs and resource distribution is exactly like the original Mongolia.
The random chances of the many terrains appearing:
5/20 terrain types have primary forest as Oak Forest
5/20 terrain types have primary forest as Jungle
5/20 terrain types have primary forest as Pine Forest
2/20 terrain types have primary forest as Palm Desert
2/20 terrain types have primary forest as Bamboo
1/20 terrain types have primary forest as Snow Forest
There are various combinations of secondary forests, green grass or brown dirt or desert terrains. Five patterns use each of jaguars, turkeys, macaws and javelinas, though not all are together. Only one of the 20 patterns has snow as the main or base terrain, and one other has a limited amount of snow and snow forest similar to the standard Mongolia map.
