The Conquerors 1.0c |
MFO@UltimateLSurvivor
MFO@UltimateWSurvivor
The UltimateSurvivor maps are an extension of our previously released Survivor map, but this time done with more normal starting units and on randomly genererated maps. These are "Nomad" type maps, but different than the standard ES Nomad. Each player starts with only a single Scout, but no Villagers or Town Center, with each starting position surrounded by 8 gaia (or neutral) villagers waiting to be converted to your side and join your team!
The UltimateLSurvivor map is a mainly land map script based on our UltimateLand map - randomly selected all or mostly land maps, with varying terrain patterns, possible rivers crossed by shallows, possible ponds or small-to-medium sized lakes, connecting roads, varying forests, different player placement, and varying extra resources.
The UltimateWSurvivor map is based on our UltimateWater map - randomly selected maps with water similar to Coastal, Rivers or Baltic, but with much more possible variation in land form, with varying terrain patterns, possible rivers crossed by shallows, possible ponds, lakes, connecting roads, and varying extra resources. In this script, the players are always connected by shallows or land; there are no maps where the players start on unconnected islands, though there may be islands with resources to find.
Here are minimap screenshots from some UltimateLSurvivor games:
Here are 3 shots from different UltimateWSurvivor games:
See how the gaia villagers appear as a bright white dot on the minimap in the "All Visible" mode similar to a relic.
The first few minutes of each game are filled with quite intense scouting, trying to find both your own and your enemy's gaia villagers. Using the different start-up while trying to get your economy going is a fun challange to master.
With only the usual starting resources (not an extra 275W and 100S like in the regular nomad map), you will have to get a lumber camp up soon and get the extra wood needed to build your initial TC. Surprisingly, despite starting without a TC, if all 8 surrounding vills are found soon, times for advancement are not much behind a standard game.
In Regicide mode, you receive no extra starting Villagers, and get a King and WatchTower at the start.
Note that the CHINESE are at a distinct disadvantage in these maps due to starting with less resources and having no extra vills.
Note that the Computer AI cannot play this map at all as it cannot convert gaia vills.
FEEDBACK APPRECIATED!
