hey, sorry about submitting shogun twice...i forgot...this one tho, has more scenarios
rokkitman A right bloodfest, this. The first three (not counting the 2nd Mongolian Invasion, a complete repeat of the Mongolian Invasion, with a handfull of new units thrown in) concentrate on three of the best parts of multiplayer, and expands them to a full map. Ninja is a hopeless attempt at one concentrating on strategy, but by going North, you can simply walk to the Castle with only a few Casualties, wherupon the Castle blows up. Hmmm. If you want a post-imp bit of multiplayer, but cant be arsed to build up the armies, get this. If you like the 'Strategy' bit of Real-Time Strategy, go elsewhere.

The campaign consists of six scenarios; it is a Mix of FF and B&D, you fight warlords to become the Shogun.

PLAYABILITY: This is an overall below average campaign, the third and fourth scenario is practically the same, more units for the second invasion, which caused more lag too. I cannot say that I especially enjoyed any of the scenarios except that the first was the better one. 2

BALANCE: I played hard with some challenge in the first, had to go to moderate for the second, the third and fourth were ridiculously easy on hard, while the fifth was funny, a reload to change tactic and I consider myself lucky that I won the last on easy. Overall, the author uses too many units trying to create challenge, which does not result in a balanced campaign. 2+

CREATIVITY: There is not much to say, I add a point for the laugh I had when I won the fifth scenario. 2

MAP DESIGN: Two maps were about random map quality and four pathetic ones out of which two repeat. 2-

STORY/INSTRUCTIONS: Every scenario has an objective, the two lines in the history section do not qualify for story, read like an instruction and the scenarios, except the last, do not relate to a fight between warlords. 2

SUGGESTIONS: You have to put more effort and time into your design to rate higher.

OBSERVATION: Shogun’s first three-scenario version, 2001-04-14, received an overall rating of 1.0 by The Conquistador. This version is an update with three scenarios added after one day, which seems rushed.

IN CLOSING: The above is not a recommendation to download.
