“The Battle of Dublin” is a fairly average campaign, but it could have been so much more.
The playability in this game was average. There wasn’t any bugs or triggers malfunctioning, and yet I didn’t find this game very enjoyable. I think that destroying a castle wasn’t all that exciting because it had been done so many times already in the ES campaigns.
The balance in this game standard, and playing this game felt a lot like playing the standard the game. The enemies should have been a tad stronger, and the game would have been far more challenging.
The creativity in this game wasn’t very high. I mean playing Sim City for a while, and then destroying a castle wasn’t all that exciting. The whole concept of this game has been done perhaps too often, so the creativity wasn’t very high.
The map design wasn’t fantastic. The countryside wasn’t very good and just reminded me of the standard random map. However, the city of Dublin had an interesting layout, so the game deserves at least a 3.0 in this area.
The storyline in my opinion was lacking. At the beginning of the game I was hopeful for a bit of story, but during the game the story didn’t really progress. The instructions were sufficient.
In the end, this is an average game. I feel this game had some potentials to be a great game, and perhaps with a bit of additional effort this game could have been significantly better.
