El Cid’s Final Battle (Part 2) is an awesome sequel to Part 1. Even though I didn’t play the first campaign, the creator was convenient enough to give a brief history and summary of what happened in the first campaign. The campaign contains some deathmatch battles, a cool battle music, and interesting story that will keep you going.

Playability: smooth gameplay. Triggers used for dialogues and other stuffs are executed without any errors. The campaign really deserves a ‘4’ for this.

Balance: average. Some of the scenarios are just plain build ‘n destroy, the enemies’ difficulty will therefore be determined by which difficulty you decide to play the campaign in. However, some towns, such as the final scenario, would be quite hard to defeat. But as I’ve already said, you can set the difficulty to be whatever you want it to be, so a ‘3’ is given.

Creativity: very good. One thing to point out is the enemy town’s defenses. The creator is so good with cliffs and elevation that you will feel like you are fighting an impregnable kingdom. The dialogues and story are also put to good use to enhance the atmosphere.

Map Design: attractive. Although most areas are just plain grasses, the main paths to the enemies are attractively decorated. Some of the towns also look magnificent, such as the small rebel camp and Wallace’s main fortress. However, more effort could be put in to deserve a ‘5’.

Story/Instructions: interesting and clearly written. The story element is definitely present in all scenarios. The story is carried out mostly by clearly written dialogues. This campaign is also user-friendly since players that have not played the first part can still get a good idea of what’s going, on by looking under the “history” section. All objectives are also written clearly, with plenty of information under the “hints” and “scouts” sections.

Overall – quite a solid campaign. Download it if you are for some build ‘n destroy actions with some storylines thrown in. A worthy download.

Good Points:
- Interesting storyline
- A “not bad” map design
- Good battle music
- Plenty of large-scale battles

Bad Points:
- Some boring objectives
- Deathmatch atmosphere
- Semi-easy difficulty
