Armor Of Mars is an interesting RPG set in a mythical world. The creator, Big Travis, has implemented some creative tricks that should entice many RPG fans. This great campaign, however, is not without its flaws.

The playability is average. There were not many obvious bugs that will seriously affect your gameplay. What hurts this area most is the lack of instructions. Some sub-objectives are bound to confuse players because there are no hints given whatsoever. One example was when I had to open a magical locked gate, and was given the instruction to find someone to help me. It took me at least 15 minutes of boring search and exploring until I finally found the solution, which was at the other end of the map.

The difficulty of this campaign unfortunately, is very easy, which lowers the total score even more. In the first scenario, you control some mighty guy with the attributes and strengths of William Wallace. I was able to practically take out 20 enemies in one go. Even the final boss of that scenario could be defeated without clicking your mouse at all. I would reluctantly admit that I found more difficulty finding my way around that battling, which a good campaign should not incorporate.

I think the author definitely deserves a score of ‘5’ for creativity. Since a reviewer is not supposed to deduct mark(s) to a campaign that has used some tricks from other campaigns, I see no reason not to award Armor of Mars for implementing some interesting trigger tricks. First trick to point out is the teleportation. Since the campaign is set on a magical world, teleportation is a very good feature that illustrates this atmosphere. Big Travis is also good with dialogues, as you will undoubtedly see, when you play Armor of Mars. Some characters can be humorous with what they have to say, and the convenience of ‘click-and-talk’ RPG feature is also nice to see.

I can see that Big Travis has put some efforts into the map design. I would like to give him a perfect ‘5’, but unfortunately it is not quite up to the standard yet, when compared to other campaigns with ‘5’ for their map design. Flowers are dominantly used to decorate most of his beautiful terrains, and there is nothing wrong with that, since the results are quite satisfying and nice to look at. If you explore areas beyond the main roads, however, you seem to have come out of the ‘magical world’ that was perfectly set by Big Travis. This is because little efforts have been used to design the outskirts of the maps, turning it into a random map, which forced me to deduct a point.

Because Armor of Mars is an RPG, it contains some basic storyline. The story never develops during the scenario though; actually, the real story was told at the beginning of the campaign, and you as the player basically have to ‘make’ that story come true. The pre-scenario instructions are clearly and neatly written, and I have nothing to complain about that. But, as I have already mentioned above, these instructions are little help whatsoever when you are given sub-objectives later during the scenario. There were also occasional spelling mistakes, but they should not affect your readings.

In conclusion, I find this campaign to be worth of a download, especially if you are an RPG fan. If you do download it, you should be prepared for some frustrating minutes of figuring your next destinations. Give it a try anyway, and since new campaign uploads are slow nowadays, this should fill up some of your boring hours.

cheesy smile Hey! "big travis", you've got a writer on your side! I've played this, and loved this! And I've found it could be turned into a story very easily! if not already published, or copyrighted, I'd Like to write this story, and possibly even add to it! (such with most Fantasy writers, With thier own private magical worlds). If You Give Permission, I can whip up a short story, or many stories! All I need is a little history on your cities-towns-countries. Of Course, Minor changes will have to be to fit it into a story.(not too many changes though), If You Agree, just post a comment saying wether or not.
