The Last Samurai II
This is the sequel of The Last Samurai. The second episode takes place a few weeks after The Last Samurai. The town east of Osaka known as Yatsushiro has become a ghost town because its entire population has been wiped out. Now, Lord Shimaru has ordered Nobunaga and Mutsurugi to investigate Yatsushiro and decipher its dark secret.
V102 Features:
-Intriguing storyline, which will make you, beg for more.
-Talk to everyone you meet by selecting unit(s).
-2 Cities, and 4 towns.
-Secret adventures.
-Challenging game but doable.
-RPG elements such as listing of weapons and armor.
-CerberusXXL’s personal strategy guide.
–Even more Lightning Samurai Action.
-Music is available, but there is a price to pay. The music can be found by downloading Shadowmind Episode 3, which happens to be my favorite campaign here at AOK Heaven.
I know that it’s odd that I didn’t include the music file, but in the end it’s really a bargain because you will get some cool music with one of the greatest campaign of all time.
Finally, I would like to thank all the people that have played The Last Samurai who have given so many great comments, which motivated me to make a sequel. I also want to thank all the playtesters, which have contributed greatly on improving and optimizing The Last Samurai II.
I hope you guys will have a pleasant time and that you will enjoy this new chapter.
May the spirit of Bushido be with you.

This is quite possibly the best RPG I've ever played.
**swoons and falls backwards**
Overall: 4.8
Playability: This was a very good scenario. The story was driven along nicely, with secret spots and mysterious enemies. You kept wanting to play more, although my only complaint is that it was too short. I finished in 1/2 an hour or so. So, a 4.
Balance: The balance in TLS II was perfect. Your character (Nobunaga) does not heal by himself, and by the time you do get an oppurtunity to heal you are very nearly dead, after numerous encounters with wolves. Also, you must upgrade your armour and weapons before facing certain enemies, so you must take time to explore every spot. A perfect 5.
Creativity: Nothing short of brilliant. Duels with Spanish captains, item lists, and the timeless 'bleeding to death' sequence. Another, spotless, 5.
Map Design: There is a lot of walking in this map, although it is not a chore to wander around this beautiful landscape. There is plentiful eyecandy, and the town of Nagazaki is well designed. Yet *another* 5.
Last, but not least, Story/Instructions. As I have mentioned earlier, the story pulls you in superbly, and the instructions are very clear and precise. There is also a walkthrough by Cerberus XXL, if you need it, and this ensures another 5.
So download now! Oh, and if you haven't already, you must download Shadowmind Episode 3 for its soundtrack. Don't play this without it! |

The campaign contains two scenarios, out of which one is a Demo. It is a RPG, the second/third part of the unfinished three-set Last Samurai Series. The Last Samurai II became the Blacksmith Feature on the 6th of June 2002; the scenario is a classic, one of the all time best of AoK.
A few weeks after the defeat of the Manji Cult Lord Shimaru ordered his best Samurai Nobunaga and Mutsurugi to investigate the secret of Yatzushiro, which became a ghost town overnight.
PLAYABILITY: Magnificent, the story keeps you captured with its itriguing attacks of Samurais, masters of the Nanto Suichoken technique. What I wrote under playability for ID 358 The Last Samurai applys also to this campaign. Again there are side quests at the players will, it is worth to consult the mini map, wander every path, use all gates to make this a great experience. The only disappointment was that the story ended the moment it got very exciting. 5
BALANCE: The campaign was played on hard difficulty. Apart from the first minutes of game you control only one character, making balance a difficult task which was well executed. The fight to save a villager demanded micromanagement and tactic, for the bleeding to death scene you will hold your breath and the upgrades at the players will to explore are well tested and some really needed, which makes the campaign difficulty level dynamic. 5-
CREATIVITY: Every aspect factors into creativity, you find a fantastic story with unexpected twists, challenging balance with item list of weapons and armour, game enhancing trigger tricks, well chosen music file from Shadowmind Episode 3, beautiful map design with a special atmosphere for the Samurai tale and the awesome bleeding to death scene. 5+
MAP DESIGN: It is a pleasure to play the beautiful map. The design of landscape, towns and cities is absolute top quality, detailed, perfect blending, with a realistic touch for the Asian map. 5+
STORY/INSTRUCTIONS: Clear instructions, I always knew where to go or what to do; perfect scout section with a description of every town and village; a BMP which was used already for ID 358 and IMO a designer should provide a different BMP for every upload; good hints, a walkthrough and an intriguing story, which is not told to the end and leaves you wanting more. 4
OVERALL: Another masterpiece with a great unfinished story.
OBSERVATIONS: The Last Samurai II does not work as a stand up alone scenario, which denies the highest rating. It is more like the first part of a great adventure and the Demo stops the moment the story has another twist. Even though the campaign has the potential for a perfect rating I had to take off a point and opted for story, being a fragment.
SUGGESTIONS: Thank you for the good entertainment. To score a perfect five, tell us the end of the story please.
IN CLOSING: May the spirit of Bushido protect you. |
