Gandalf's Twin Forest-Winter is one of a series of new random maps which give some new variety to the 'michi' style of maps. There are two bands of forest that separate each team, and these are thinner than on the standard 'michi' maps. On this map, the middle ground is a frozen river and the forests and land terrains are snow-covered. This ice river is crossable everywhere. There are no resources in the center river area except usually at least a couple of the map's relics. On the base map the resources are pretty standard.
Game play differs a little from the usual 'michi' map in that the middle frozen river pathway allows a change in how gaps through the forest are exploited or defended. There is no buildable terrain in the central frozen river.
This map should be played at a size greater than the number of players, at least with 6-8 players, to prevent overcrowding and partial or complete envelopement of the end players' starting positions with forest.
A "HighResource" version is included for those who like to play with much greater than the usual starting resources. On this version, usually at least several of the 10 relics are on the river.
