The Armor of Mars -Chapter II- DEMO

Author File Description
Big Travis
File Details
Version: The Conquerors 1.0c
Style: Role Playing Only
Number of scenarios: 2
This requires the RED DRAGONS and FLYING DRAGON Mod Packs.
Without these Mod Packs this scenario is complete nonsense.

This demo includes the prologue cutscene and a small playable scenario. Includes features like gaining exp. and advancing levels, picking up items, market trade, coloured chat and read at your own pace, etc.
The reason I'm putting this on because it is the first scenario (to my knowledge) that uses mostly combating dragons for its theme. So it would be appreciated if you could post a reply and tell me what you think about all the dragons simply saying if you liked it or not. So please take a few seconds out of your day to say if you liked it or not.
Enjoy ;)

Scenarios in full campaign

- Prologue (cutscene)
- The Journey Begins
- Wise mans hideout (cutscene)
- Oron and Toron
- The Torn Realm
- Dwarrins Castle
- Conclusion (cutscene)

The series start in The Armor of Mars -Chapter I- A New Beginning

Hero_McDohl Good RPG. Except I dont bother with the red dragon modpack, Furios looks better. And you should put a strenght for Gragon "Against other Dragons", since they run when he attacks them.
Map Design5.0
Let me start off by saying that this campaign was very well done, and a fitting sequel to chapter I. Also, before you download this (if you decide to), be sure you have Agamemnon's Red Dragon mod pack. You simply can't play without it. I tried, and it really takes away from the game.

You'll also need the flying dragon mod (both mod's you can get in the blacksmith). I would sincerely urge you not to play without either of these. They are integral to the campaign :).

Okay, on with the review:

Balance, above average. There were lots of enemies spread out through the map, and they were at some points challenging (for instance, the dragons). However, they were composed almost completely of Genitours and Tarkans. There were some TK's and archers, but 5 or six Tarkans here and there can become a bit boring. Another thing that left it short of a 5 was that your heroes were just too powerful. They rehealed (except Gragon), and with about 300 HP apiece, they normally trashed their foes.

One thing I really liked were the dragons. They required strategy to beat, and they added a lot of excitement to the game.

Playability, good. As I said above, the Heroes were a little too strong. Also the Orcs never really played a role in my game. They kinda were just there. The Strongest point in playability was the use of the dragons. Like I said, it requires a bit of strategy to beat them, but when you do, your heroes are rewarded with extra experience (i.e. HP).

Creativity, excellent. The author used many nice little features in this campaign to enhance the play. Included were experience upgrades, special items you can find, and gold for killing enemies. He also brought out a great feel for the scenario in the map, which we will get to next.

Map Design, amazing. One of the best done maps I've seen. It was not all that beautiful, but it fit the story perfectly. Everything is in ruins, with dragons flying over head, and dead trees dotting the land scape. The map was my favorite part of the campaign, I commend the author for his work.

Story/Instructions, good. I felt the story was a bit lacking. For Instance, Dwarrin has come back from the dead, and you are supposed to kill him again. The question that jumps to mind is, why would he stay dead after you kill him THIS time?? Some of the characters also seemed out of place, and there were not many objectives for you to do.

Overall, this campaign is definately worth the download, and I'm sure you will have fun playing it. Of note, this is only the demo, so the real thing should be pretty good as well. Some of the minus points I give it may be fixed in the real thing.

Pros and Cons:
+ Excellent map
+ Great use of dragons
+ Little features
+ Fun Level
- Charcters strengths
- Lack of objectives

I hope this review inspires the author on the finished version of this, and that you will find this campaign as fun as I did.

Red_Shift Please tell me when the full version will be released, this has been here for a long time.
