Age of Kings 1.0 |
The Age of Empires II AI Update - This update addresses the issue where the computer player resigns after a few minutes of play. It does not effect multiplayer, meaning players with the update can play with players who do not have the update. It is localized into English, French, German, Spanish, and Italian all in the same build. You choose your language at the start of setup. |

This helps, but does not solve the entire problem. When playing a random map conquest game, the computer will still resign when you get close to wiping him out. It's very frustrating to spend hours building up and fighting small skirmishes, and then when you finally get the upper hand and go in for the kill, the computer resigns! I want to be able to finish him off. (I tell my kids not to give up when they are losing, and then the computer does just that -- what a bad example for life.) |

Why does the AI surrender AT ALL? I think it sucks that the AI still surrenders even after you install this patch. All those hard fought battles. So many of my peasants and soldiers dead. And in the end I am denied the pleasure of crushing the enemy who brought all this grief upon my kingdom!?!? CAMEL DUNG!
This is a very very bad thing to have in an empire building game. Get rid of it in the x-pack. |

The AI patch served its purpose well, i didnt like the AI resigning after 5 mins but for those who are whining about the AI quitting after you smash their town to bits and theres only a few villies left, i say nuts to that. remember back to the days of AoE? youd have that one villie hiding in the bushes and you couldnt see it and you would spend twenty minutes hunting for that one guy? its because of that i like it when the AI realizes its screwed and resigns. |

Why ES would make the computer resign at all is beyond me. I'm just glad I can actually start to play before the computer resigns with some lame reason like, "When my villagers sought the deer, they ran away" "No wonder thou wert victorious!" That is extremely annoying. I don't mind winning but come on! I stil hate when the computer resigns when I'm about to mercilessly wipe him out. It better be fixed in AOK:TC! |

I agree with most of the comments made above. This so-called AI Update is practically worthless. However, why not give it a try? At least it will help SOMEWHAT, even if it doesn't fix everything.
As Flaming Arrow has said, the ES people had better fix this annoying bug in the Expansion Pack. |

I think you should have the option to turn off resigning... but anyway, I downloaded the patch but I still can't play any difficulty below moderate without them resigning 10 seconds into the game... |

I think i know why ES made the AI so it resigned, in history, when the army had few soldiers and a guess of being killed, they resigned, but i think ES has taken it too far by making a patch that does nothing. |
