The Great Siege Campaign (vers.1.01)

This small campaign includes five sieges around the world: the sieges of Rouen, Caen, Krak des Chevaliers, Neuss and Osaka Castle. They are not 100% historically accurate, though.

*Large Castles and nice towns. Very detailed terrain.
*Mainly fixed force, some B&D and other styles.
*New training system: units that stay in certain areas, gain HP and attack strength.
*Siege of Osaka features Day/Night change, which affects the gameplay. Different unit modes available through difficulty levels.
*4 custom sound files.

The Great Siege Campaign is, in my opinion, a very good campaign. It focuses on famous sieges through history, and, after a dull first scenario, the pace really picks up.

The playability is excellent in this campaign, except for the first scenario. In the first scenario, The siege of Rouen, all you must do is gather 1000 food and wait until the people of Rouen starve. You gather food by going around with your soldiers and slaughtering animals nearby. The problem is that the hunting takes too long and is quite boring. Then you must wait 5 minutes or so to end the scenario. I recommend sitting patiently through all this, though, because the other four scenarios include quelling rebellions, establishing siege camps, heroic charges at enemy strongholds, and much more.

The first scenario is far too easy. There are not even any bandits in the forest to liven things up. But in the other scenarios, you are given limited amounts of men and must fight some tough battles. In the siege of Krak des Chevaliers, for example, you have 4 siege rams, an onager and 2 villagers to repair them, and must destroy about 15 Accursed Towers. This is hard, but not impossible. A similar theme is present in the other scenarios.

The creativity is impeccable, especially in the last scenario, the siege of Osaka. I recommend downloading this campaign for that scenario alone. A day-night cycle, where the time of day affects your troops, assassination attempts, diseases, plagues, training, spiritual power for troops, Hero-based unit creation... This scenario has it all. The other scenarios are not quite as creative, but the very idea of a siege campaign is: I've never seen one like it.

The Map Design is pretty good, but nothing special. The author does use some good eyecandy, but there are some anomalies. Green Mountains in the desert? I don't think so.

All the instructions were clear, and the author gave plentiful history and background information. Also, comprehensive hints and scouts are to be applauded.

In conclusion, I would say to everyone to download this campaign. You're in for a surprise! I look forward to more work like this from the author.
Matthias Rex This campaign was REALLY good!
I especially enjoyed the Osaka Siege scenario.
It was totally detailed, and the best sc in the campaign!
But the others were also very good!
I liked the historical accuracy!
Make more sieges ,please :)
I m from Hungary and i like history very much!
I suppose you should make the siege of Nándorfehérvár!
(it was happened in 1456,when the Turks tried to capture the Hungarian city of Nándorfehérvár and it was a total failure to them :) )
If you need any historical knowledge about Hungary, please e-mail me!

Playability: 5
This was a great part of the campaign because I like siege maps A LOT. I enjoyed playing this campaign over and over again. It had no bugs or other stupid things what would cut down the gameplay seriously. I would especially commend the last scenario, where the gameplay was enhanced and new, not being the regular build a force and crush 'em all thing.

Balance: 4
Well, this was the only ..., well weaker part of the campaign, due to the balance was changing all the time. I had no problem in some of the scenarios, sweeping through enemy forces with ease (or, like in the first scenario, just hunting), or I faced an almost impossible challenge, like in the Krak De Chevaliers scenario. I had to bring out every dirty trick and deadly tip I knew and I still managed to barely get past that scenario.

Creativity: 5
The creativity of this campaign was something really special. It denied the regular AOE siege rules and made new ways to enhance the gameplay and make the campaign even more interesting. The music fitted, the trigger tricks were great, map design featured some great parts and I could go on ever and ever, but I think these parts are the most important parts of the campaign's creative parts.

Map Design: 5
The map design was highly detailed and very interesting. It showed no signs of being a AOK game, showing the awesome possibilities, what AOK posesses, when enough time is put in it. It also featured great city designs and etc.

Story/Instructions: 5
The story was accurate and catching, interesting to read and overall great. The instructions were straightfoward and understandable, making the player focused on his objectives and knowing, what to do.

Additional Comments:
I would really recommend people to download this campaign. It has little things to update and upgrade.
laz123 Has anyone won all games?

Really cool! This is a great campaign with 5 sieges, all of them different. The last one is marvellous although I find it too difficult but I will play an updated version of that instead.
