Tjis is a complete tutorial of all the eyecandy that I have ever seen in and a few of my own.
I\'m not saying that this work is all mine, but lease don\'t post anything saying that I have copied someone.
If you see your work up there somewhere, please just post here.
This is my first scenario and I think it is worthy of some positive feedback... |

Review of 'Paulc2001's Complete Eyecandy Tutorial' by PaulC2001. This utility shows you examples of a variety of eye-candy tricks.
Utility -
This utility shows you a number of different tricks, but most are already known by experienced designers. I haven't seen a few of these tricks in any other utility though, like making a bridge over some cliffs. Most of these tricks are simple but useful.
+ Plus Points +
» Many tricks
» Some all-new tricks
» Simple but useful tricks
- Minus Points -
» Most tricks are known
» Mainly for beginners
Score - 3
Creativity-
This map is quite good in creativity. The map starts out simple and steadily becomes more and more advanced. The map is well designed, but the 'Road' terrain is used quite a lot in what looks like a forest, but I won't reduce marks for that as the author has also made good use of terrain mixing in many parts of the map making good looking dirt roads. The author has also tried to make the nature realistic to some extent, but repetative terrain keeps the creativity from getting a higher score.
+ Plus Points +
» Good map design
» Realistic nature to some extent
- Minus Points -
» Terrain looks repetative in some parts
Score - 4
Quality-
Most tricks are well made, but a few are not. Some tricks have bugs in them, for example, the author has not frozen the units in the Ice Skating trick, making it look like they are running around on the ice. The outline of a Wolf is clearly visible in the Archery trick. I also found a few more bugs, and hopefully the author will correct these in the next version of the utility.
+ Plus Points +
» Most tricks have no bugs
- Minus Points -
» Some tricks have bugs which have to be fixed to make them work
Score - 3
Instructions-
The utility is good if you want to have a look at some eye-candy tricks, but may be confusing to beginners as it has no instructions. Every trick has a brief description, but none have been explained in detail. The objectives tell you what you are about to see on the map, but no where has the author mentioned how to do the tricks.
+ Plus Points +
» Every trick has a brief description
- Minus Points -
» Confusing for beginners
» No mention of how to do the tricks
Score - 2
Final thoughts-
Only a handful of tricks are new in the utility, but the author has made a good collection of known tricks. A lot of effort has gone into the creation of this utility. I recommend this utility if you are fairly new to AoK, but have a medium-good knowledge of triggers. Experienced designers may also be interested in having a look, but won't find it very useful. This utility receives an overall score of 3.
To the author : If you have any questions or doubts about this review, feel free to email me at deathdart@hotmail.com .
TIP : Playtest your utility a few more times to find the bugs and fix them. You may get a very good score next time.

Pretty cool. You didn't tell HOW to do most of them. |

I found the one with the bridge between the cliff pretty interesting. I was also intrigued by the 'destroy the trebuchet-->kill t5he arbelest' trigger, I once tried something to that effect where I placed an arbelest next to the trebuchet. I tried to time it as close as I could so that it would appear the arbelest was killed by the treb falling apart, didn't get too far with that though. Just an idea I had.
Good job though, downloading this scenario was well worth it just for the cliff bridge, that'll help me alot. |
