“Vikings Plundering” is campaign that can surely use a total make over. The fun factor runs very low and there wasn’t anything exciting about this campaign.
The playability was absolutely horrible. In order to win in this campaign, the player only needs to annihilate all the other civilization. In addition, the player is never rewarded with anything for destroying the other Empires. I think a little bonus would have been a nice touch and a reason to continue playing.
The balance was on the hard side and none of the battles were exciting. Moreover, the player starts with a fix force and will receive additional units but sadly the overall balance of this campaign was too hard.
The creativity was nearly none existent. When I played this campaign, I had the impression that it was roughly created over a few hours. It’s obvious that the author could have been far more creative.
The map design wasn’t attractive at all. There was also a lack of realism. As an illustration, the British Islands were connected to Europe by a bridge. Furthermore, there wasn’t much variety to the map, and it simply wasn’t great having to wonder through such a poorly designed map.
The story line was non existent or at least the player can figure it out. (Seek and Destroy). There were some instructions/hints but they really didn’t add much to the game.
All in all, “Viking Plundering” falls below average and it should be avoided because it clearly isn’t worth the download. I think next time the author should take his time before submitting a campaign and aim for quality.
