This is the tale of Kyushi, a story of an exiled Samurai who has nothing but his sword and his honor to comfort him. Exiled by his rival who is now the Lord of the land he loves, Kyushi sets out to find a new Master, a new lord; so that one day he will return and have his revenge.

“The Tale of Kyushi” is definitely below average and overall there wasn’t anything really exciting to keep the player motivated through out the adventure.
The playability in this RPG was poor. The way the game was played didn’t provide any particular challenge. In addition, the map design affected the playability. As an illustration, during the final moment of the game the player is expected to navigate through a city. Unfortunately certain areas are blocked due to trade carts being stuck so the player has to go all the way around the city walls in order to continue through the adventure. I feel Stormgaurde should have invested more time in making this game more entertaining because it’s obvious that he could have done much better if he had invested more time in making this campaign.
The balance in this game is sadly way off. The enemies were too easy and there was no need to use any sort of strategy. The hero Kyushi is extremely strong but sadly no one in the game can come close to his strength and as a result the game is way too easy. For instance, at one point the gamer must defeat an evil wizard but he was too weak since his total hp was no even ¼ of the hero’s hp. I hope in the future that the author will make his game more balance.
Creativity is one area, which is difficult to score high marks because most of the trigger tricks have been done so innovating is difficult and I understand that. Now, the problem that I have with this campaign is really the lack of triggers.
The map design was without a doubt lacking. In fact, a regular random map actually would have looked better. The cities in this campaign were not interesting and they didn’t look very realistic. I think Stormgaurde map design would have been better looking if he had perhaps started on a random and added lots of details such as gaia units and so on. The cities need to have a more realistic feel to them. I suggest you download some of the campaigns such as “The Swallowed Realm series”, “The Quest”, or any scenario/campaign with high scores.
The story wasn’t developed enough and for an RPG one must remember that the story is the soul of the campaign, so never underestimate this area. I feel you should have given more information about the hero and the place where the story takes place. The instructions were decent but you could have done better in this area too.
Overall, “The Tale of Kyushi” is slightly below average and could have used a lot more work. I can’t really advise to download this campaign since there are some many campaign that are far more enjoyable than this one, so download at your own risk. To the author I want to say don’t give up on making campaigns but please take more time when you design.
