A Journey to the Discotheque is a single scenario, a RPG. You play a teen (militia) who is looking for jobs to pay the entrance to a discotheque.
PLAYABILITY: Overall a fun scenario, if you like rpg style game play with no warfare. You'll find enjoyable scenes, but there was this long walk to find a prisoner and not enough places of interest for the map size. 3+
BALANCE: A Journey to the Discotheque is a RPG, where no fighting takes place. We have to take the intention of the author into account, there is just one scene where the teen has to protect a lady from a agressor, who is no match and the escaped prisoner does not even resist. From the review tutorial: “One important item to note about scoring the balance category for scenarios where no fighting takes place, such as cut-scene scenarios, some puzzle scenarios and some rpg style scenarios, is that just because the player cannot die in such scenarios, that doesn't mean the scenario isn't balanced. You also need to take the author's original intent into account, giving the author some benefit of the doubt. If the author never intended the player to face a struggle to survive, then there's no reason to knock down the balance score if there isn't any fighting. So keep in mind that you do need to take the intent and goals of the scenario into account when scoring the balance category, especially for those scenarios where fighting is not included.” 5
CREATIVITY: The overall concept and idea is creative, as well as the beach scene, the "slalom" and some game play enhancing triggers. The disco scene is disappointing, most people stand around, those that "dance" give the impression to walk fast, the GoGo girls in the cages don't move, the "flashing lights" where executed already better and also the sound file from the Lord of the Realms, called setup 2, is taken from scenario ID 816 discovillager, the file name changed to disco music, no credits given. 3
MAP DESIGN: The map is too flat, too big and too green. The author has talent, small areas of the map are nicely done, just not enough effort to confirm an above average rating. 3
STORY/INSTRUCTIONS: The best parts, small story, clear objectives, developing in game, some hints and a bmp. 4
SUGGESTIONS: Work on your map design, use a smaller map or have more ideas to fill it and avoid long walks.
OBSERVATION: If you are interested in the topic of this scenario, I also recommend ID 816 Disco Villagers!! or ID 802 Dancing!
IN CLOSING: Worth a download. |
