This campaign is based on the famous theme of the Trojan war.
Prince Paris of Troy has kidnapped the fair Helen ,wife of the Greek king Menelaus and the Greeks declare war on the Trojans to get her back. The massive Achaean fleet of a Thousand ships rapidly approaches the Trojan shores as the Trojans prepare themselves for the approaching Achaeans the Greek Champion is the great Achilles of the Myrmidons while on the Trojan side stands Prince Hector the greatest warrior of Troy.
Gear up as you lead the Achaean forces to battle against the Trojan forces and be prepared some interesting twists and surprises.

|Ruler of Hell
The War of Troy by Sceletar is a campaign based on the Trojan War with ideas taken from the Iliad by Homer and from the movie Troy. A total unique type, never tried-before campaign. Now for the review ;) -
There were absolutely no bugs experienced during the game and it was lag free. The ability to play on the Trojan And Achanean side was truly amazing. The backing up of forces frequently was also quite good. The various sounds used developed a real war-like atmosphere. I truly enjoyed playing with and against the various heroes which made me experience how it felt like in the Trojan War on both the sides, Trojan and Achanean side.
The scenario was perfectly balanced. The ability to choose the difficulty levels made the campaign fit for all players. The easy difficulty was also not that easy. The use of micro management was needed. Normal difficulty wasn't as easy as it sounds it does. It was a real challenge for Veteran players and needed careful micromanagement. The game had no imbalance, was perfectly balanced fit for players of all skill levels.
I have no words to describe this. The various use palaside walls in the battle field like barriers, the use of statues inside and outside the temples, was truly amazing. The use of traps was also fascinating. You could even activate traps helping you in battle. The use of Path and Palaside Wall along with the Change View effect for creating an effect like in the middle of a sea was also truly unbelievable. The use of sounds from the movie and using various other trigger tricks was marvellous.
Map Design: 5
The Map Design charmed the eyes. The eye-candy used was tremendous. The use of desert for the battle-field and a mixture of grass for farm lands was truly charming. The use of cliffs and various gaia objects for ponds etc pleased the eyes. The author has done great work.
The Story was explained in detail with the whole history of the Trojan War. A person who has no idea about it will learn it in a matter of hours. This is the way it was explained that anyone could understand it.
The Instructions was very well explained with each objective having details and hints so that the player does not get lost at all. Truly good work.
If this review is read carefully you might be knowing that there is no words to express the campaign. The author has done great effort and anyone can make out from the campaign. Hard work done there.

The War of Troy by Sceletar is a campaign based upon the landing at the beach of Troy. The player plays many different roles, and the only problem I have with it are a few minor bugs, whereas the rest! The campaign begins with a young man walking up to Homer, and asking him about the story of The War of Troy, Homer proceeds to tell him...
After the cut scenes, which are very well done we take control of the Achaeans storming the beach, it is all very well presented and a very enjoyable campaign, there were no bugs spotted and I had fun, the best feature was then becoming Hector and fighting the Achaeans, I liked the idea of swapping between the two armies. The only annoyance I had was the length of the opening cut-scene, it was lengthy though an option to skip it was included, nonetheless it was a good scenario. I didn't experience lag, but it will probably be present for people with low end computers. The battles are rather hectic, if a little plain. There didn't seem to be much innovation and at times I felt that there is litle micromanagement needed during the initial assault.
For this the author has put in the option to choose difficulty in game, I played Normal each time. The fighting on "Standard" was a little bit to easy so I played on moderate, I found it a bit harder and it presented a good enough challenge and I was happy, there’s a good learning curve in the game, you can play on Standard - Easy, if you are quite new to AoK, or Standard - Normal if you are fairly used to the game and so on.
There were many creative aspects in the campaign, such as swapping between the armies and getting the player to do certain things in the fight, destroying the catapults, or targeting certain heroes. There was also the aspect of the traps in the Temple of Apollo, but I didn't see any clear reason why they went off at the start, whether people were setting them off, or was it just random. Letting the player use them later was very clever, it also followed the movie very well, which would have been hard to do. These saved it from looking just like another Fixed Force scenario! The sounds were brilliant, and I didn't even play with the music pack! The use of sounds is brilliant, including many clips from the film!
MAP DESIGN (4)
The map was very well designed with the tide trick used, there was nothing outstanding, but it was well done. I would have liked to see more of Troy, but everything was pleasant in view and there wasn't too much of certain objects used, terrain was mixed well.
STORY / INSTRUCTIONS (5)
The instructions were very well done with hints provided with the objectives, I was never left in the dark as to what I was supposed to be doing. The author also provided great history and pointed out the inaccuracies. His spelling was perfect (unlike mine probably) and everything was there including a lovely bitmap. The story was well done, having Homer say the story was clever, and the way you ended it left me hungry for more!
A brilliant scenario, I honestly didn't think it would be that good as doing stuff like this is hard to represent in AoK and was pleasantly surprised and the high amount of work that went into this campaign, I’d recommend it to anyone who even watched the film "TROY," whether you liked it or not. We have another great designer among us. Well done Sceletar!

The War of Troy, based on the greatest battle ever, and the movie “Troy”
Had no trouble at all. Although my silly computer did not meet the system requirements, the lag
did not take the fun out of the game. The intensity of the battle made me pause a lot, set the speed
to slow, and focus on what I was doing. This will put you on your toes, and people from all
ranges of experience will have great fun playing this over and over again. The ability to play on
both sides was confusing, yet added to the fun. It was simple to play and the sounds made it all
the better. It feels as if you were almost in the battle itself.
Both sides had an equal amount of chance to win, and the only thing that kept you from losing
was the fact that Artificial Intelligence will never beat a human being. I enjoyed how well this
campaign was created to let the player use his full skill in turning out victorious on the battlefield.
In every way there was no luck involved, and everything is fair and square.
Everything here is made perfectly. The camera moved at the precise moments, and every little
thing was made to it’s full quality. This campaign should gives much fun to the player as it must
have for the maker. Words can’t describe it.

Stunning, positively stunning. The sea shore moving, the good realism in creating the perfect
battlefield, making it one of the best campaigns I have ever played, is enough to leave you
electrified. If only the English language was made with more words that I could use here.
The story was told in the right way for this game. The instructions were told perfectly, so there
was nothing you couldn’t understand. I had no trouble going through it and did not find any
problem. The objectives were clear, and the player knows exactly what to do and what not to do.
The way the instructions are put makes it clear how much thought was put into it.
Even though I myself have not seen the movie yet, it was still a good campaign. Everybody ready
for a good war on their PC is going to love this one. You won’t regret clicking on the

I loved the playability, it never faultered. All the stages of the scenario were brilliant, evn the bits that I wasn't actually playing.
Never too easy, never too hard. Always a perfect balance of units, and reinforcements were always sent in exactly when I needed them. Brilliant!
Very creative use of different units, espcially the Huskarls, the Berserk for Ajax, and also making a campaign about Troy with limited resources, I salute you.

Spectacular map design, the waves, the inside of the temple of apollo (I always find it very hard to make building interiors) the ship interiors, the bit with Anudorus and Homer... the list goes on.
Brilliant story (even though you didn't write it). The instructions were great, especially when you included hints as the objectives were updated.
Overall, one of the best Campaigns I have ever seen, I hope to see some more scenarios soon!
‘The War of ~Troy~; The Trojan Shores’ is a single scenario campaign presented by the author Sceletar, detailing, through a powerful and moving cut-scene and action-fledged scenario, the abduction of Queen Helen, to when Agamemnon gathered all of Greece for a war for vengeance to the early days of the Trojan War itself, lying waste over the beaches and fields. The campaign captures the battle for Troy’s beach, both exhaustedly and claustrophobic, to the first of the many battles raging across the open plains before the behemoth city of Troy itself.
Playability: (5.0) +
The scenario, ‘The War of Troy’ was excellent and definitely worth the download. The ability to choose difficulty by selecting either of the two outposts, and take the roles of both sides of the war was impressive. It was a fun game to play, and challenging at the same time! The action scenes, the way they were all carried out helped to entertain the player, and keep him on the edge of his seat right throughout the game. The playability is such that it leaves you wanting more, desiring more!
The ability to chose the respective difficulties, Standard or Moderate by selecting structures gave the player a chance to play the scenario as it is meant to be experienced. On both Standard and Moderate alike I was met with a thrusting challenge and in both cases was forced to use many strategies and heavy micromanaging to win. Whilst playing the Achaeans or even the Trojans in the thick of battle, the balance for both teams to win was 50 and 50. If you didn't watch your soldiers in battle they would be slaughtered making the player 'sit with it' all the way through. The difficulty levels were fit for all players, veterans and new, and offered a fitting challenge throughout.
Creativity: (5.0) +
The idea of Homer telling his story was very impressive. The use of sound files from the movie added a sense of realism, and the beach scene in the first few plays was awesome! Alot of work was added into this game, especially the beginning scenes. The use of traps in the temple was pretty good, and helped to turn the tide of battle and the shield wall carried out by Achilleus and his Myrmidons was creative too. The cut-scene whereby it dealt with the Achaean fleet crossing the vast Aegean to when they were setting anchor on Troy's beaches under the hail of fire was spectacurly carried out and the scenes whereby it depicted the interiors of buildings or decks of ships was great and very creative. Overall you have done a terrific job!

The map design was overall good with the hard blue sea sloping against the sandy beaches of Phrygia, the dry, harsh fields nestled in between the many hills lying before the city of Troy, and well designed and structured settlements and the interiors of buildings and ships. There was a good use of terrain mixing, and a suitable structure of the overall design, but in all lacked in realism for what North Western Turkey looks like as explained in the ‘Iliad’ and was a bit too bland. The jungle trees didn't work out too well either.
Story/ Instructions: (5.0) –
The War of Troy is a story constantly told throughout the Blacksmith, but Sceletar finds new ways to juice it up and make it in such a way that it involves the audience and captivates those who do not know what to expect. The story is a cross between 'The Iliad’ of Homer and ‘Troy’ the movie and as such, provides both historical accuracy, although only in some areas, and fully immersing action. The History section was exemplary with plentiful detail telling us mythically how the Trojan war started, caused primarily because of the dispute of a “golden apple” between the three goddesses Pallas Athene, Hera and Aphrodite. The hints section abounded with much useful detail, and in-game when objectives came anew, came yet more hints making clear what one needed to do in that certain event. Topped with a bitmap both great and rich in colour and good dialogue, the story will not let you down. However, do not expect this scenario to be just like Homer’s epic poem ‘The Iliad’. It is merely an adaptation; a story based on it. For you will find, providing you have read ‘The Iliad’, that some of the events in ‘The War of Troy’ do not necessarily fit those from the poem written over two-and-a-half-thousand years ago. This can disappoint the viewer, and I admit it did me, but the story is fantastic nonetheless, and the dialogue great.
I encountered many grammatical errors, both in the written story and dialogue alike, such as the frequent lack of full stops, lack of gaps in between sentences and numbers, the overuse of the "..." whose name I have forgotten, some bad use of wording and in all, have cost a deduction of half a point in this category.
In a word - Climactic!

This game wasn't impossbly hard to understand or play, and it was very enjoyable
Both sides of the armies were balanced when fighting. It was never impossible to win because you were outnumbered
The way that Sceletar had parts from the Illiad and the movie, but it wasn't exactly the same really showed creativity

Wow. Wow. It was truly amazing how Sceletar Showed people on boats, and all the beautiful scenery
The Instructions were easy to read and understand.
I give this amazing game, the War of Troy, a five out of five. My only comment is when you were showing all the ships in the water it slowed the action, but it did show just how big the Achaens army was.
Excellent in all aspects....I lvoe your long opening intro's keep on making them long and interesting liek they are in all of your scenario's. At first I wondered how you would reprsent the Homeric Warrior from that time with Castle and Feudal Ages looking men but you made it feel like it was in the Ancient Times. The scenario was a bit short......but with all of the intense action packed into it could've just been me.
perfect....switchin back and forth was sheer brilliance....And modifying the various units to aorund the same effectiveness was a nice idea as it spiced up the battleground with other units that did virtually the same job.

Suited the Scneario perfectly....as a whole it was rahter bland....but in the parts that you played in it was nice.

(The playability was the brilliant because you weren't in the battle right at the beginning and it wasn't too easy either!)

(Creativity was excellent too because the adventure in the scenario was really breathtaking! The storyline was very creative and exactly matched the real story of The War of Troy.)

(This was my favorite thing because the detail in the map and where it looked like the waves were coming in on the shore was excellent.)
(You kept on to the story line brilliantly so it seemed very realistic. The instructions were very good also because they were very clearly explained.)

First, my thanks to you, Tanneur99 for pointing this out! Here we go then, not that it's gonna change much about this great rating anyway. But it's gonna be a pleasure!
All went as smooth as a river. Real fast, I was not even playing anymore but just being Achilles or Hector for a while.
Hard but, I believe, not as much as the true battle of Troy. For instance... I didn't die! So, in a way real tough maybe, but therefore very respectful of the true story. And great situations for experimenting some strategies.
The rythm of your scenario was probably the best creativity part of it. I realized I was truly out of breath when I finished it. As much as I was pissed to not be able to go any further!
And what about being able to play both sides! Simple, which means very, very smart.

Nothing did ever make me think I was playing an AoK scenario at any moment, disturbing me of my greek or trojan duty! And believe me, that's the greatest compliment of all.

The whole thing was running so fast, I'm still amazed how come you didn't loose me. And you never did.
Of course, I wasn't pleased to stop too early, after fighting like hell my way to these Famous Walls... I never reached! And most probably never will... But it's was a dream, wasn't it? So... :-)
This was possibly one of the greatest scenarios I have ever played. Sceletar has done an excellent job of capturing the feel of the Trojan War and, though I haven't watched the film Troy, if it's even half as good as this scenario then I'm sure I'll enjoy every minute of it.
Without a doubt one of the strongest areas for this scenario, the playability could only be improved upon if Sceletar could work miracles, in which case, why would he be making scenarios for us?
Though I did suffer from a fair bit of lag, which under review guidelines the scenario could be marked down for, I really do have too obsolete a laptop to judge anything by how smoothly it runs. (192 megs of RAM is not recommended for this scenario; it plays horribly slowly).
Thankfully, I tend to persist with a scenario despite any lag present, and in this case it reaped rich rewards. I enjoyed every minute of this scenario and I was unable to find a single bug. Overall, this scenario merits a 5 quite easily; if possible I would have given it more!
Playing as both sides was an excellent way of keeping interest in the game and also of building up empathy for both sides. Well done!
This scenario was very well balanced. Despite the superior firepower of the foe at times, there was never a moment where it was too difficult and where a bit of micromanagement, concentration and sheer luck wouldn't pull me through.
Very creative! I loved the idea of showing units on ships at sea using the paths and palisade walls; while the effect wasn't exactly what I'd call brilliant, it would have been impossible to do any better and I certainly liked the originality and ingenuity shown by Sceletar in coming up with it. His creativity and sheer genius was shown in other areas as well, though I can't think of any in particular as they were all excellent!

The map design was perhaps a bit disappointing as compared to everything else, but it was still good enough to merit a 5. While a simply brilliant job was done in making the terrain look realistic and detailed, it was a bit bland in small, infrequent patches and the jungle trees did not, as has already been said in another review, work very well against the terrain.
These were excellent. Full details for every aspect of the scenario was given at the appropriate time, whereas the hints were detailed, revealing and very much useful.
All in all, Sceletar has produced a wonderful scenario based upon Troy and the Trojan War. He deserves a commendation for this outstanding piece of work! Jolly well done!
