Overview
Objective:
You have arrived into the pool colleseum, fighting to destroy other opponent's towers. Spawn units, cast spells, and other methods to achieve the victory. Lose your tower and you will lose the game. Last man standing wins.
New Players:
Please refer to the in-game tutorial in the map. By loading the map, the game will
automatically take you to the start game settings. You will be shown a male or a female
villager. Delete the female villager to get you started to the quick tutorial.
Refer to the Instructions/Hints for more detailed information.

simple yet complex, effective and enjoyable.

One of the few scenarios that really is balanced.

Very creative, many different stores, strategies etc.

Simple yet nice design.

You can see instructions from start by deleting a villager or just play immediately, neat idea.

One of the best bloods ever made for AOC, and my favorite one. |

it's easy to play always without care on spot
have 19++ triggers and fully of units/buy items

P O O L B L O O D, A fun, relatively strategic blood map which follows the regular format but also brings some cool changes to the age-old template.
Playability: 4
The fun-factor of this map was quite high, even for myself and Popeychops doing a 1v1 (where controling the middle-spot first means you're the definite victor). It uses Heroes, with a relatively thought-out progression for unlocking new heroes based on kills, with the option of using Kings to purchase other heroes not unlockable through kills.
There is also a pretty unique "Technology store" where players use Horses to purchase technologies such as blacksmith techs, spies, masonry, etc. This is something you don't often see in a blood map, where instead you usually start with all technologies unlocked.
I feel, however, that specifically the Blacksmith tech upgrades would be better suited to being unlocked through kills. A bug present in the map disallows Player 1 from researching Bracer, putting him at quite a disadvantage due to the ranged dominance that comes with every blood map.
Further to the Tech and Hero store, there is a special store using Trade Carts which allows the player to purchase one-shot non-spawnable heroes and units with slight stat buffs, including long range siege such as Jean de Lorrain. You can "sell" your excess heroes that you're not using to spawn for your army to either one of these (Techs or Trade Cart) stores. Over-all this map has a lot of strategy options and I feel even as a losing player in a 1v1, it's a fun and enjoyable map.
Balance: 5
The players all begin with equal heroes, allowing them to make a choice on what to spawn. Later on, you unlock new heroes through kills - something which feels like some of the choice of what you unlock is a little less thought out. For example, the player starts with Sieur Betrand - but later unlocks Roland, an arguably weaker hero.
The players can also purchase "Lord de Graville" despite beginning the game with "Archers of the Eyes". Another arguably weaker choice.
As the map progresses, the balance is pretty well maintained with most heroes unlocked being cavalry or infantry. This helps when a player is dominating with ranged units, as they rack up kills they rarely unlock a better ranged unit whilst the other players unlock good counters to their army.
Creativity: 4
The map is a traditional heroes blood with added extras. Whilst not radically unique or different, the extra stores and spells definitely make the map stand out compared to other blood maps.
Map Design: 4
The map design has good use of terrain. Whilst being a blood map, set on an island with very limited space, the map designer did a good effort in making the map look interesting with the terrain use. This suffers a point and does not earn 5, however, due to how in the more modern standards for map design there are much greater means to make a map look pretty. The terrain mixing is nearly non existant in Poolblood, and there's a strange choice of GAIA objects to "border" the middle-point.
Story/Instructions: 5
This map, unlike many others, comes with an optional tutorial that Player 1 can choose to activate, or simply go straight into the game. The tutorial explains what each area of the map and store does, which is extremely helpful to new players.

I really think Poolblood is a solid blood map, whilst not being radically different to the normal format these maps follow. |

Poolblood is a unit-selection blood where players gain rewards based on acquiring kills. It is enjoyable for any even number of players as teams, or as FFA. Since the player can save up previous units, there is a tactical element in unit selection with no single winning unit. A good deal of choice is available to the players in selecting additional heroes, technologies and such.
Balance: 4
The map is completely symmetric, with the game purely determined by civ bonuses and player skill. There is an unfortunate bug where player one is unable to purchase Bracer, which prevents the game from receiving a perfect score.
Creativity: 5
As previously mentioned, the map is an excellent example of a blood map, with numerous customisable options given to the players. There is a "spells" section which allow a player to turn the tide in a losing battle.
Map Design: 4
Although generally to a high standard for a blood map, block terrain has been used which is aesthetically displeasing. Terrain mixing and/or elevation would be beneficial.
Story/Instructions: 5
The instructions go into great deal of detail, and it should be suffice to say that this file has an optional tutorial. It is a joy to play this map.
Additional Comments:
Poolblood is among the best blood maps available for download on the Blacksmith. I thoroughly recommend it for download.
