I liked it. Especially the third Mission. I am good with Teutons, too. I'll bet I can beat you in the MSN Gaming Zone with them. |

Playability: 2
This campaign doesn't offer a lot I'm afraid. There are two levels both FF style. In the first level you must destroy the "Spicial Units" I believe, which were perhaps the enemy civ's unique units, like the Persian's elephant etc. I found this level paticularly annoying with many active AI enemies that were not only building, but also had towers and walls as well.
The second level is similar, another small mixed FF party, this time moving a trade cart through the enemy bases. Again, getting through gates etc was a bit irritating, but I enjoyed this level a lot more than the first.
Balance: 2
The campaign is very badly balanced - the first level requires you to play on the ridiculous "easiest" I think, since moderate proved to be quite impossible over several brief attempts. On easiest the AI was happy to form an alliance with me, which of course defeats the whole point of the level. They also were very bad at attacking me and very good at killing each other for me. It proved possible on this level of difficulty but was not fun to play in. The second level is fairly well balanced in comparison to the first, requiring a few retry attempts, but beatable on moderate.
Creativity: 2
The gameplay was interesting, although basically repeated in the second level, with a slightly different objective. The objectives themselves were simple, but slightly creative. The maps were unique, but neither in an appealing or gameplay enhanching way, while the story was very dull while still being fiction. The most creative part of these was definitely the gameplay, which was a mixed unit FF that involved travelling through small enemy fortified towns, and using counter units well. The levels were quite dynamic with the AI's building and allies helping you to attack.
Map Design: 1
The maps were extremely similar to the types you would see made in 2 hours on the zone. They were unrealsitic, unappealing, filled with examples of poor map design technique, and especially in the first scenario they made it downright annoying to play. Some examples include the infamous deleted/elevation cliffs, a bridge that was made with incorrectly joined bridge pieces that even faced the wrong direction at one point, and in the first scenario, the walls joining all the towns together cramped up the map even more and looked very contrived.
Story/Instructions: 2
The spelling and instructions are very poor at times - for example I couldn't identify what my goal was in the first level - was it to destroy all the unique units, or to destroy just the Persian UU and destroy the remaining players? The campaign had a story, but it was far too basic and meaningless, not far removed from "destroy the enemy", so lost another point there.[Edited on 09/10/05 @ 07:51 PM]
