LIGHTNING AND THUNDER
THE TEASER
This is a cutscene which will introduce you to the magnificent story of two twins, who were separated by a saxon assault on their home village in Norway around the end of the Viking era.
The final campaign will feature three fully playable scenarios - one B&D, one RPG, and one FF - and one more cutscene. I have already finished the B&D part and it is currently in the hands of skilled playtesters.
This campaign will probably be the first of its kind to feature a customized data file, which will introduce the world of AoK to a whole new set of tricks. The altered data file lies here on my (computer's) desk, but it's not needed in this cutscene, and therefore I decided not to include it with this teaser.
Enjoy this short cutscene, and don't forget to read the readme document.

Latest update: Added a .avi movie to the teaser. When compressed, the movie isn't bigger than a normal sound file (0,5 mb). A cookie to the person who first tells me where I got the sound file from. ;-) |

Eh...
I'm only giving a little tip for oliver:
When I downloaded your CPN, I saw that only the music takes a load of space.
If you make a download version without the music files, people have only to wait a little time, or they can download the music files later |

We do not allow double uploads; a new download without music files will make this one a candidate to remove. We accept files up to 48 Megabytes, larger files upon request; this file has only 2.7 MB. ;)
BTW the music file is fantastic, perfect for the scenario. |

It would be ideal if music could be uploaded as a separate part of the upload, but this hasn't been implemented yet, and is probably a long, long time away. |

Whoa, a review. :D I wasn't prepared for that, I just uploaded the cutscene because I wanted to show people just a glimpse of what is to come. I actually have an updated version here with introducing instructions, some history and a .bmp picture. I have also fixed a few "bugs" (e.g. in the old version all the players had the same color. Now they don't, so the "disguised saxons" idea is easier to grasp.) I'll update this instant. Could you please download the prologue again and change your review, Mashek? (not that I ain't satisfied with a 4.8 ;-)[Edited on 12/22/05 @ 08:58 AM]

@Oliver: -I'm downloading it again now. I will be sure to change it soon, or more. BTW, could you please review The Second Kretharn War I, if you have a 256mb ram? Its just that all the reviews I've gotten are like ten words each for every rating, its pretty unfair considering everyone else gets big, detailed reviews.
EDIT: Argh!!! I hated the yellow, the red was alot better and I'm sure many would agree. I loved it when it said ' Red sail on the horizon '. Saying yellow just didn't work. Some more mistakes was that you could see the Saxon soldiers standing right of the village. And the saxon army never attacked the villagers. I will fix the review up still. Anyway i gave you a review because I'm sick of people not giving reviews to great games or even games with potential so I make sure I review in their stead.[Edited on 12/22/05 @ 05:20 PM]

"Argh!!! I hated the yellow, the red was alot better and I'm sure many would agree. I loved it when it said ' Red sail on the horizon '. Saying yellow just didn't work."
...and I thought yellow was nice. =( Alright, I'll change it back to red, and change the color of the Grimfjell player instead.
"Some more mistakes was that you could see the Saxon soldiers standing right of the village."
You could? I guess you have a bigger screen resolution than me then. Will fix that.
"And the saxon army never attacked the villagers."
That's because you played the game on 'Standard' difficulty. Computer enemies won't attack villagers when set to 'standard'. Play it again on 'moderate' or 'hard', and there shouldn't be a problem. =)

Okay, will do. Lately I've been very busy with L&T and playtesting a friend's work (that took almost 7 hours), but since you were nice enough to give me a review, I'll review it in a week or two. |

...Red gives the game a dark atmosphere, sorry for any inconviencience, but for a time such as your story nothing should be too bright.

...I always have my screen resoloution on 800x600 or whatever it is.

...Oops, i keep forgetting to change it :).

...Thanks mate, you're a legend.
EDIT: I Have just played the third updated version. It is better. The yellow Saxons looks good, and the red disguised saxons put up against the red Village Grimfjell is perfect too. Only one problem. The disguised beserks go to run to put the banner atop the wall, but before they can get near it, the flag is already up. It doesnt look so good, so perhaps if you can be bother, to make sure the beserks get in the vicinity of the wall before the flag goes up.[Edited on 12/23/05 @ 07:07 AM]
