“Pacal” is a campaign based around a Mayan called Pacal, he is fighting against the Amawas tribe.

Playability: The playability was below average, it lacked anything to make you want to play again but once you started you finished to see if it improved. There was a wide range of different objectives through the maps but the enemies all-ways set on patrol soon grew tiresome.

Balance: The balance was ok, if you used your units properly you will have no trouble completing this campaign the first time round. It seemed like it could do with an AI file to make it more of a challenge.

Creativity: The creativity was a stronger part of this campaign, it featured Gods of War, Nature and Gods of all. It also had some objectives where after the conquest you had to bring up a small town and Pacal visited your town, which was inventive in the way it was implemented.

Map Design: The map design was ok, it didn’t look like a random map at all. It was ok but needed more features and things of interest for it to receive a higher score. You could try adding rivers, cliffs. The 2 main negative points on the map design was that there was open areas of nothing in some maps, and that oak forest trees were in with Jungle trees in the Yucutan seemed very odd. A minor point was the roads, you could try making them more curvy and adding elevation changes as you played through.

Story/Instructions: The story was a little below average, the instructions screens were all-ways short and to the point, but I was left in my own thoughts as to why I was fighting this cause. The sound files used helped the story a little but they were all taken from the Conquerors campaigns, which was bad because some of the voices sounded more European.

Overall: A campaign which got better as you played through it but it lacked to much originality on the objectives side.
