THE WAR OF THE RING
The War of the Ring gives you the immediate control of Mordor and all its rabble hordes to buildup and lead an assault against the weakened lands of Ithilien: the Kingdom of Gondor.
Control the Witch King and his cowering lackies and conquer the cities of Osgiliath and Cair Andros, while preventing assaults made by Gondor's Captain Faramir and an Elven band desperate to halt your advance.
This single scenario campaign is an adaptation of J.R.R Tolkien's trilogy, The Lord of the Rings with additional imagination.
~ Game Features ~

* The control of evil commanders of Mordor's armies such as the Witch King, Gothmog, the Nazgul, Gorbag, Shagrat and the Mouth of Sauron.
* Plenty of custom sound effects as well as Lord of the Rings Music.
* The cities of Cair Andros and Osgiliath, plus outlying fortresses that can be captured.
* Challenging gameplay.

Why not make the battle of Dagorlad
The Battle-plain. The Dagorlad was in front of the Black Gate and bordered on at least one side by the Dead Marshes, which had been creeping over the edges. A battle has been fought on the Dagorlad, before the War of the Ring: that of the Last Alliance in the year 3434 of the Second Age
Ive made a scenerio on this but my skill is nothing compared to yours and it wasnt worth realesing |

@Capo: The Game has been sent.
@General Anzac: I have considered it, but I want an Elven theme, like the Beleriand war. I want to do a battle where you control the elves and are under pressure from an orc army many more times your own size. When all seems lost, your King charges single handedly into the Orc flank, and your army is boosted drastically with morale. The Orc army soon after retreats. To get to this feel, the battle where Denethor is stuck on a hill and then relieved by Thingol, has been considered. But I'm still confused on clearness of information and what battle I want to make. |

Mashek, I think in the First battle of Beleriand Thingol goes out to maat the orc army outside of Doriath. Denethor then attacks them in the rear but gets cut off and surronded on Amon Ereb. A few orcs also attack Doriath. At least that how I interpreted it. Another army of orcs attacked the falas and layed seige to its cities. |

Playability: 5
Excellent ideas make this one of the most compulsively playable scenarios on the entire Blacksmith. As GeNeRaL_AnZaC before me, I thought at first that 180 men was a bit much but they are absolutely essential, as it turns out! I found no bugs whatsoever, and the cutscenes were very well directed. This comes from a veteran of many an LOTR map, though it was only today that rwilde spurred me into reviewing anything.
Balance: 4
Almost perfect! It seemed a bit difficult at first (mainly because Gondor attacked me almost constantly) but with skill, dexterity and even a big portion of luck I came through.
Creativity: 4
As much as I love this map, I must admit, it's been tried before. The Blacksmith is absolutely AWASH with LOTR maps, most lacking that essential sparkle, but this map has many innovative ideas pushing Creativity up to a 4.
Map Design: 5
A detailed, accurate map of the portions of Middle-Earth concerned and amazing perception of which areas will be suitable for attack points etc., this map is one of the best I've seen.
Story/Instructions: 5
A detailed, accurate history and clear objectives, I found it highly enjoyable just to read them for hours on end (yes, I'm weird like that). Not a single spelling mistake, though there were some grammatical mistakes (including absence of capital letters for some words that needed them) but hey, I'm not complaining.
Additional Comments:
A must-download for every lover of fine scenarios. Absolutely brilliant, and compulsively playable.

-Akria62-
Thankyou very much Akria62 for that great review, it is probably the best I have ever recieved so far. Although I must complain why so much outburst for such a crap game! If you want a brilliant game, play The Second Kretharn War: A Day of Hatred and Lost Memories.

lol, Akria! Thanks, but no one will comment on The Second Kretharn War. I really put alot of time and energy into it. The War of the Ring is fairly good considering I made it back in my n00b days. If I were to remake it, it be a thousand times better, and I guarrante it.[Edited on 02/04/06 @ 05:50 PM]
