LotR Middle Earth Total Conversion

Author File Description
File Details
Version: The Conquerors 1.0c
This was a community project started a few years ago, and I am happy to return it to the community that spawned it. Unfortunately, it only ultimately reached a state of semi-completion. A new patch is in the works to fix the flaws, but this is what so many have been demanding, so here is the primary download. Please read the instructions included in the zip file, and you'll find installation is quite simple. Any questions, just e-mail me and I'll be happy to answer you back quickly.

Currently, all of the civilizations have been converted to Tolkien and LOTR-based entities, though there are few that are not playable. This is due to bumps in the design process where certain civilizations just don't fit a particular mold. There are several graphical glitches in the ModPack, but it is quite playable. We hope to make some key improvements to many things, so keep an eye on a future patch that's currently in the works.

The features and changes are too many to list, as this is after all, a 'total conversion'. All else I can say is have fun and enjoy the hard work put into this project. ;)

Kyrion when can we expect a fully completed mod;)?
King Phillip WOW! this is so amazing!! i'm working on a [url,37317,,10]TC[/url] also, and its nothing likt this!
John_G Im amazed this modpack is great! You guys managed to get the middle earth people come alive in AOC. This will open new dimensions in creating new scenarios. Thanks!

But I have a few suggestions how one can develep this modpack:

1) change the portraits of none-hero unit so they arn´t carrying hero portraits. It´s a bit annoying to have soldiars carrying Aragorns face when you alredy have a Aragorn hero.

2) Get new vocies to the middle-earth unit, that would be cool.

elmoroxdahouse im fairly new at this, but i just installed the mod pack, tried it out, and now i dont know how to get it out. it wont let me delete some of the files because they are 'read-only'. could someone tell me how to do this?
John_G The easiest way is to reinstall AOC (or AOK). If you still want to use the middle-earth modpack you should download a middle-earth installer, it makes it must easier to switch between it and AOC.

You can download the middle-earth installer on this site:
elmoroxdahouse hm, i tried uninstalling/reinstalling AOK, but some of the files must have stayed (unit and civ names are still different, and the history still talks about lotr civs).

would uninstalling MPS and AOK:TC make a difference?
John_G Hm, I belive the names of the units and civilizations is written in a languages file inside the language folder. I suggest that you open the language folder in your AOC (or AOK) folder and delete (or cut it out and put it somewere else) and then reinstall AOC.

Rating: 5
(This is a great RPG modpack which contains many new units och buildings from the Lord of the ring movie.

This modpack must have taken alot time to do, so I give all the creedits to the makers)

Additional Comments:
Darkedge How exactly do you uninstall this? I can't seem to figure it out... should I just delete it?
John_G Darkedge, it depends on if you have installed it "permanently" or by the METC installer.

Permanently install:
Uninstall AOC game, and delete those files that can´t be uninstalled. Most importent is that the language and DATA files are deleted. Then reinstall AOC again, and I dont think you will have any more problem.

METC Installer:
Use the METC uninstaller which comes with the METC installer. It might be some files that arn´t deleted, like the sounds and languages
file, so you might have to delete them by your self, and copy the original files (which is supposed to be in the METC backup folder)in to the AOC folders.

Remove files manually:
These are the files that METC installer seem´s to change:
language_x1.dll, language_x1_p1.dll, LANGUAGE.DLL in AOC/ folder.
Music in AOC/SOUND/STREAM/ folder.
History files in the /AOC/History/ folder.
Now delete these files and then either install AOC again, or if you have made a backup in the METC folder copy those AOC orignal files back to where they belong.
