The Conquerors 1.0c |
This was a community project started a few years ago, and I am happy to return it to the community that spawned it. Unfortunately, it only ultimately reached a state of semi-completion. A new patch is in the works to fix the flaws, but this is what so many have been demanding, so here is the primary download. Please read the instructions included in the zip file, and you'll find installation is quite simple. Any questions, just e-mail me and I'll be happy to answer you back quickly.
Currently, all of the civilizations have been converted to Tolkien and LOTR-based entities, though there are few that are not playable. This is due to bumps in the design process where certain civilizations just don't fit a particular mold. There are several graphical glitches in the ModPack, but it is quite playable. We hope to make some key improvements to many things, so keep an eye on a future patch that's currently in the works.
The features and changes are too many to list, as this is after all, a 'total conversion'. All else I can say is have fun and enjoy the hard work put into this project. ;) |

I do think it´s one of the best modpacks ever, because it adjusts very well to the movie and the books. However, it has some flaws:
First of all, many of the units that used to move a little while they were just standing , now they are completely still.
At second,I did not like the troll at all.It is not well done and it moves as if he does not have a leg.
At third, I hate the Ent!It is not well proportioned, and I think it moves in a pathetic sort of way.
At last, the buildings. The design is pretty good, but, for example, the elfic town center is too tall and you can´t see what`s happening behind it.Also, the wonders are too tall for the tiles, and it gives them a very bad effect.
Additional Comments:
However, I found very good stuff. The Balrog is amazingly made, it is my favourite unit. Also, the language.dll file is perfectly done.

Nice work. Though the Balrog looks cheezy and it walks like it's floating. To fix the cheezyness you could just blend some more shades of black and dark-grey into the body. Though the highlight ed bones under the skin of the wings are creative. To fix the floating you could make the whole body move when it walks, and maby add some jerkyness and chaos to the posture. I also don't like Rivendell much. The minaret at the top of the tower dosent blend well with the white of the rest of it. Once again, too fix this you could blend it white too.
Otherwise it's a quite well done mod for any player. Though I don't like the way you often Hack N' Slash cuts to paste aok building pieces to make an effect. It ends up blending horrible with the other pasted pieces.
Additional Comments: I'm Really quite new to aok heaven, so if this comment is not enough explanitory. Then just post a comment and i'll explain more. On the other hand i've been working with AOK:TC for a year now, and I now my stuff.
Thanks to the Comunity for providing much support. And appreacations to the maker of this amazing mod.

Alright, shadowflare - I'll admit that this is indeed much better than any LotR mod I've made so far. However, after playing a few hours with it installed, I think I might sound like I'm jumping on the bandwagon. It's supposedly unfinished, so you're forgiven for the following.
Firstly, the buildings are indeed a bit taller than necessary. Very much so in some cases, although I really did enjoy the Elven "Infirmary" and wonders, to name a few (especially Rohan). Unfortunately, some of the latter were a lot larger than they were tiled to be; this led to a lot of visual conflicts. Walls tended to share the same problem, though I give you a definite thumbs-up for the design.
Secondly, there could've been some more done with units - granted, excellent job on the ones you did, but there should've been more for a "total conversion".
Some buildings were a bit blurred or pixelated, such as Gondor's towers (which didn't look very Gondor-ish, even by book standards). I noticed it a lot on the larger structures, especially the ones done from scratch - understandable, but somewhat annoying.
Also, the interface - though pretty around the borders and such - was kinda rough; it was nearly impossible to read texts in the centre box because of the gargantuan black logos that overran them. The same goes for all of the "hints" and "objectives" screens.
Again, it was relatively good, but I think I'll just wait until BoME comes out.
Wish you the best, shadowflare!

I will put this to you in the simplest way:
THIS... MOD... IS... AWSOME! However, I easily discovered where you go the Aragorn/Ranger, Legolas, Gimli, and Cave Troll graphics. The Two Towers video game for Gameboy Advance. I played and beat that game a trillion times, and I know those graphics. Not that that's a bad thing. I still love it! |

(This is a great RPG modpack which contains many new units och buildings from the Lord of the ring movie.
This modpack must have taken alot time to do, so I give all the creedits to the makers)

This is simply amazing!
You changed almost every kind of units into a very good LotR unit! It's really fantastic... People who are making maps like Helm's Deep or something, should really use this!
The Graphical Design:
Perfect... I really like the helmets of the Cataphracts :D
The capes of the Arbalest are also cool!
Gandalf and other units just look like they are stolen out the Movie!
Good job! Keep going!

Middle Earth Total Conversion is one of the best Mod Packs I have seen in the Blacksmith. It is a total conversion, converting most of the units and buildings into LOTR units including, Ents, Balrog, Orcs, Hobbits, etc and also adds many LOTR heroes like Aragorn, Legolas, Gandalf, Frodo, Gimli, Saruman. Middle Earth Total Conversion is the best thing to use for a Lord of the rings scenario. It includes great graphics and stat changes (although I do know where you got the Aragorn, Legolas and cave troll graphics from: the Lord of the Rings Return of the King for Game boy, the best GBA game in the world). METC would improve any LOTR scenario with the great units, buildings and civs. This is one of the best mod ever! |

1. This is my first review and my first mod download.
2. I give this mod a 4 because even though it was a very expansive and well done mod it has several flaws and glitches.
3. Before I list the flaws I would like to compliment the good things: the new units are creative and a well made recreation of the LOTR charaters; the buildings are very unique and is amazing to be created from scratch; the wonders are very interesting. I like this mod because it is the only one so far that is most like the LOTR story.
4. The flaws that I have noticed so far include: 1)the graphics on the buildings should be sharpened up a bit. It would create a more realistic look for a Middle Earth world. Also the destruction effects on some of the buildings need to be fixed. 2) Some of the units had lame graphics and movements (Ents and Trolls etc.) that could be cleaned up and made more realistic. 3) Some of the terrain glitches out and copies itself over buildings and in some cases actually deletes the buildings all together. 4) Some of the unit icons were either mixed up or very poorly made.
5. Overall, this mod is the best LOTR mod out there but could be fixed up to make a more realistic LOTR Middle Earth AOK. I am very happy with this mod and would definintely recommend it for anyone who would like to enjoy a LOTR type AOK.
