TO ALL PREVIOUS PEOPlE WHO DOWNLOADED:
i have updated it three times now. that was probably my LAST time. it is now officially complete. whoo.
AND ALSO, PLEASE!!!!! POST COMMENTS. ITS GETTING OLD SAYING THIS
The Mayan Journey has taken me at least a month of non-stop creation. I was inspired by the lack of campaigns with Mayans. The Mayans in Age of Empires, The Conquerors edition are so disregarded it sickened me (not really...but) to the point that I felt a great need to create this one. It is based on a made-up tribe of the Mayans that's dream is to conquer land and eventually rule Quirigua.
Please download this if you even just the slightest feel the same way I do about Mayan campaigns. And, I SUGGEST you download this because it is a very fun campaign that makes you want to play it over and over again.
please review this campaign :) |

By the way, I would like to hear what other people think about my campaign. I see there's already 115 downloads so many people must be curious about this campaign. Tell me your thoughts, likes and dislikes. Thank you

Thank you dave_earl for your review.
Just some things for you (in order of what you first mentioned on down) :
First off, yeah, I had a problem trying to make the computer a lot more competitive in the first scenarios. I tried giving them loads of resources, but that only made them invinsibly strong in the beginning, usually wiping you out.
And the Elite Cataphracts in the jungle, Im SOOO ashamed of that! I forgot to delete them when I was testing the scenarios for that player to play correctly.
The scenarios with the HUGE amounts of food were for testing reasons and I...once again forgot to fix that.
And, right as we speak, I'm trying to fix the problems of the crashing (don't know why it does that...).
I'm also trying to figure out why Piedras Negras was trying to "ally" (basically) with the player...
I am going to remake the last scenario into a more "build and destroy" type map because I, as you guessed, just got very lazy after a month of creation, that I was done...just done.
NOTE TO dave_earl: yes, the Temple of the cross was a real temple of the Mayans...I don't know exactly WHY they named it such, but it was a very important temple to them at that time... also, the plants on the rivers and ocean make it look more jungle-ish. To me at least.
Fixing the "special cave" feature now
Well, thank you very much dave_earl for your suggestions. I appreciate them very much and am currently working on another scenario (with the Mayans) and fixing a lot of problems with this one as well. You obviously put soo much effort into this review, and as any good person would do if they got this review, I'm fixing it up according to what you said.

TO ALL: I have updated the game now. I think i fixed all the small screwy things that were wrong in the last, non-updated version. I hope you enjoy the totally new "Final battle of Quirigua". I made a new one that took me three days.

Hi Sashthich,
glad to see you've updated the file. As I mentioned here (http://aok.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/aokcgi/display.cgi?action=ct&f=4,36397,30,10), at the moment I don't have as much time as I'd like to spend on AoK, but I'll try and update my reveiw to reflect your changes as soon as I can. Assuming, of course, that the reveiw is approved in the first place!
A few observations:
Thank you dave_earl for your review.
"And, right as we speak, I'm trying to fix the problems of the crashing (don't know why it does that...)"
I'm not sure either. However, I recently found a great article at the Tsuniversity by Lord_Fadwah on "game-crash troubleshooting". The url for the article is: http://www.tsuniversity.com/articlepreview.php?138
"I'm also trying to figure out why Piedras Negras was trying to "ally" (basically) with the player..."
If the computer's personality is set to "normal", then it will use a standard ai which often does strange things. It's not unusual for a computer player to decide that it wants to ally with the human if its advantageous. I'm not overwhelmingly familiar with the way the normal ai works, but perhaps a search of the HG Scenario Design forum will be able to help you more. I decided to learn how to ai script when the computer players in my scenarios started doing the same thing.
"NOTE TO dave_earl: yes, the Temple of the cross was a real temple of the Mayans...I don't know exactly WHY they named it such, but it was a very important temple to them at that time..."
Oh. Sorry about that!
"as any good person would do if they got this review, I'm fixing it up according to what you said."
You only have to change as much as you feel is neccessary! I'm only offering my opinion.
"I have updated the game now. I think i fixed all the small screwy things that were wrong in the last, non-updated version. I hope you enjoy the totally new "Final battle of Quirigua"."
The new scenario looks nice. I won't have time to play it immediately but will when I get the chance. Keep an eye on that grass 1 though!
I notice the new filename is "New Compressed (Zipped) Folder.zip" and that the scenario are no longer wrapped in a .cpx file. You might want to fix that.
Good luck with your designing,
Dave. |

Hi Sashtich,
as you've updated the file and corrected many of the bugs I noted by review has been removed. I'm not going to have time to write a new review any time soon, I'm afraid. I hope you found my feedback useful.
I was speaking to Tanneur99 and he had some good ideas about what the crash bugs may have been. If you contact him he may be able to help you.
Good luck for the future,
Dave. |

dave_earl:
Thank you! I appreciated your help throughout this whole "journey" ;)
I will eventually contact Tanneur99, but I myself am busy as well. I hope that you also have great success in your campaigns, multiplayer games, etc.

it amuses me how the only conversation here has been between us. super_cell said something, but that is it. how amusing.
