Scotland, 1039:
The kingdom was in turmoil. Rebellion raged across the land. King Duncan relied upon his two generals, Macbeth and Banquo, to quell the uprisings and maintain order in the nation. But Macbeth, having heard rumour of a prophecy, had his own plans.
Few characters have caught the popular imagination like Macbeth. Was he a conniving rogue, as Shakespeare would argue, or one of the nation's greatest kings, as some Scots nationalists have recently argued? Spanning four scenarios, the Macbeth campaign may help you decide.
Follow the career of Brother Gregory, a young Franciscan friar who witnessed the events first-hand. Experience game-play elements including
- Over 160 custom sound files,
- Two avis,
- Custom bitmaps,
- Very realistic maps,
- Gripping gameplay,
- Over twenty custom ais,
- All difficulty levels supported,
- A comprehensive history section,
- The full text of Shakespeare's play, and
- A total file size of less than 5MB.
Some comments from respected scenario designers who've viewed the campaign:
"It's a very enjoyable campaign. There's no doubt that this will be in the Best of the Blacksmith." Stephen_Richards, winner of the 2005 Age of Kings Heaven's "Historical Campaign Contest"
"The game was perfectly balanced for a casual player... This is simply as good as b&d gets in my humble opinion" Oliver, author of 'Lightning and Thunder, the teaser" (5.0 at the Blacksmith) and 'Teuton in Love" (4.8 at the Blacksmith)
"Good luck on your project too, it looks promising to be one of the 'greats' released this year" Mashek331, author of "The Feud Between Two Kindoms" (4.8 at the Blacksmith).
I hope you enjoy Macbeth
Cheers, Dave_Earl
Version 1.01: Non-critical update. Cheat function updated in Scenario 1 to prevent players inadvertently winning. Some grammar and spelling errors in about.html and Scenario 1 victory screen.
Version 1.10: Recommended for beginner players who are struggling on "Standard" difficulty. "Standard" difficulty made significantly easier. The computer now attacks less frequently, attacks with less troops, and builds fewer troops to defend in seige-type scenarios. Some small bugs on level three (training villagers at the barracks and a cliff graphics issue) are fixed. Some other small modifications.

Am I the only one who ran into some horrible bugs or oversights?
For instance, a large enemy army attacks me in the 3rd scenario when all I have is Gregory and several villagers at the yellow base... and I'm only 3 or 4 minutes into the level... granted I did use reveal map cheat to scout about, if that had any effect, but seriously? How do I beat them with my nonexistent army? |

You are supposed to flee to the North. It is quite hard, but possible. |

I'm not sure that it's supposed to happen, I shouldn't think so, but in the first scenario, for some reason the hero units from my enemies are personally coming and attacking my base, and so far I've killed one, are they supposed to come out of their own bases to attack me? Or do I need AI or something? |

Help me.
Orange enemy had surrended, and then I eliminated purple viking in the 1st mission.
But it's not ended...
Is it a bug? or should I have to do something more?
By the way, very enjoyable senario :) |

Very Amazing and brillant with the recorded voices and the History of MacBeth. The Sounds included in this campaign were amazing and the trigger events (lacking towards the end) were well done.
1 problem though. Alittle but more eye to detail would of done well but thats just knit picking. However the difficulty was soul shattering. I like to say i'm average and sometimes above but after level two i could not win with out a couple cheats seriously there are objectives that make you go okay.... then there are ones that make you go WTF! especially on level 3 once i got the green town my forces were pretty decimated and took me nearly forever to build my forces up. After 3 attack attempts using luring and rush tatics the barracks fell. Then teal killed me..... this was on Standard too.
Oh well still fun to play and the levels are fast and fun to explore. Keep it up.

If you asked me on a Sunday, I'd say...Excellend campaign. (Bear with me, I am not great with reviews)
I have not experienced any bugs with it as of yet and played through it twice.
However in the last map (before bonus) is Scone supposed to turn hostile towards you in any time? I had to play that map 3 times as it kept happening. I built my town around its walls as there is little other places to do so and I am always allied with them. Once I garrisoned Malcolm and Brother Gregory in Scones castle, but then they died when Scone turned hostile and castle attacked them.
Next try, I built a castle and garrisoned them in there, but the castle got destroyed and the both got killed as I didn't notice as I was too busy trying to deal with Macbeths Army.
Also, the sceniro where you have to destroy the Barracks of towns to liberate them, took 7 tries. Brother Gregory kept being called to a higher plain and twice MacBeths army kept defeating me before I was able to win, once I came close and town center was destroyed.
Map design: Great, I loved the little things in the maps (will-o-wisp, Bell Tower, Ruined House, Out-House etc..) the maps were well designed and were not just any basic maps. I liked the way the maps had details and thought behind them, but they didn't overdo anything.
Story: Very good, especially with the extra stuff in there. Macbeth was always my favourite Shakespeare play and I liked thye narrated parts of the story, like the 3 witches going poof in an explosion or the Loch Watten Monster (which I never new about until I played, but I knew of Loch Watten)
I would also not recommend using Marco Polo cheat either, its more fun when you don't use it and not cheat, although its not always easy to save Brother Gregory. The first scenairo almost beat me when Sven kept kicking my butt.
Overall, all thats there is great, the storylines, the videos, the history. Even the turkey run (which I can say I found hard as mine kept getting killed as I passed the town center, took abut 10 or more tries to get the turkeys past without accidently killing one or losing one or more)
Definatly 5/5 for me. Hope one day you do another. Gave me the idea to do a campaign mod based around Shakespears plays (cross between Macbeth and Hamlet) |

Dave_Earl was actually designing another file called Nineteen Years, which was an excellent take on England's Civil War. Beautifully crafted just like Macbeth, I truly hope he manages to finish it one day and release it. |

You have to destroy everything (including most if not all buildings) of Svens even if it says he is defeated, until you do this and defeat Orange, you cannot win. |
